Finally getting on after picking up this monster PC at Staples. I told Robert the tech guy, when I went to pick it up and he explained some stuff to me, that I love him! (He's young enough to be my grandson.)
So, now I will try to catch up! AND I can see the video where Maks talks about the switch-up week. Isn't that the one where someone asked at the beginning if Meryl would dance with Val if they have an all-stars season and Maks said, "No". It starts at the very beginning but that isn't there. Am I looking on the wrong video for that?

that's it the vid just starts right at the no so it's hard to hear..

Thanks, April.

Maybe she is campaining DWTS for these besties:

let's hope so....we need Johnny on there!!...and Tara too....they could put Tara with Val

And who would be paired with Johnny? (Bruno should turn Pro; they could be the first man/man pair.) I read an article about these two that was quite complimentary, about how they are great at being commentators during ice shows. Seems that Johnny is quite knowledgeable and says all the correct things about technique, etc.

LOL!!!! LOL!!!!!!  OMG...that would be AWESOME!!!!LOL!!!  we need that to happen!!LOL!!  can you picture the lifts!!!LOL

Better late than never.  I made one or two posts during the past several days, but  haven't been able to post regularly the past several days---helping with the music, etc. for the 150th anniversary of a historic home in our city.  Celebration was yesterday.  Had planned to be posting  late this afternoon.  I think I got one post done before I had to give a voice lesson and then received a phone call that took me away from my home and just returned.

Here is my man crush: Richard Burton.  And I chose him not only because he was an extraordinary actor had one of the most extraordinary voices of any actor ever, but because like Robin Williams he left our world way too soon and died at the age of 58.  And like Robin Williams he was identified as a genius.  I also chose him because it was his recording of Hamlet that transformed my teaching of Shakespeare.  No complaints from students when they were able to hear Shakespeare being performed as they read the text in front of them.  This was before the era of videos.  If you have never listened to Richard Burton read poetry, you have missed an extraordinary experience.  In addition to his picture, I have copied the link to his recitation, very short, of what he calls the greatest poem in the English language: the conjugation of the present tense of "to be".

Just love this analysis, Jet.   Sometimes going away to college is the thing that helps you break out of the mold you grew up in.  It also gives you time to grow up which gives you more confidence, perhaps, and more fortitude to take the more challenging, more dangerous, and ultimately more fulfilling path.   But, as you said, Meryl did not really go away to college, and she always had the bubble of skating and her family and Charlie's.

And yet her family does seem supportive.   After all, they did go to SWAY.  I'm sure they've been photographed and interviewed throughout her career, but that was all to support her.   Going to SWAY was Maks' world, and his family and friends, and she wasn't even there.  They let themselves be photographed, knowing that it would be talked about, although I don't think I've seen any photos with Maks or any of his family.    I think that says that they support her in whatever she's exploring.   I'm sure they've seen the "glow" and changes even more than we have.

I know I went off and married a man I hadn't known for very long, who spoke another language, who came from another world.   My very quiet, Midwestern parents who only ever ventured out of the Midwest to visit me on my study abroad, were probably very concerned.   But all they ever said to me was "You're 3x7."   (I was 25).      They knew, as I'm sure that Meryl's family knows, that it has to be her decision for any of it to work.

But I'm also sure that they have been even more impressed with Maks that we have.   And not just because he is mind-bogglingly beautiful.   I never believed the DWTS bad boy stuff.   He is close to so many of his past partners, to Karina & Kate & Erin whom he dated, to all the members of the fam and his students.   I always liked the fact that he defended his partners and spoke up when the judges were penalizing his partner for something he did.   I think he is really an old-fashioned gentleman, remarkably unspoiled by the effect his physical presence has on women, and quite aware of the effect he can have on men and women.   Just as Meryl disarmed him with ther quiet presence, I think he disarmed her with his honesty and intelligence and humor and consideration that had nothing to do with how he looked.   Nurturing, I mean really?   How many of us could have seen that coming?

I've got to get back to work!  But it always makes a pleasant break to talk about M&M.

Totally agree with you, Tango. Great observation and insight! Are you in the Maksology class; if so, you will make an "A+".

I am certainly in the Maksology class.  (I'll leave Valology to others.)  Do you think I could be the teacher's aide?   I'd really like to be the teacher's pet.

Wouldn't we all?!!!

My question to those of you who have been following BWAT closely:  have all six pros been at any of the shows, or is it always four of the six?   Since HI is the last two shows, I can't compare anything.   However, the poster does not show Tony or Cheryl.   They are listed in the description, but that might just be a generic description.   So do we know for sure that Maks has to be in HI?  Tony was not in Seattle, but he is now in HI.  Could he be filling in so Maks can be elsewhere?

Advertising I saw had four for Seattle and six for Hawaii.  In the Hawaii ad Maks was up front and center.

Maks (Bergen County Interview when asked about the kind of woman he would like to marry.)  "I'm drawn to success.  I want to be somebody's fan, excited about her life, her career, her choices."
