On the Julianne Hough topic... I hadn't planned to follow season 19 and that made it a bit clearer that I won't. Even with her compliment for Meryl, it didn't read to me as genuine and coming from the heart. More like setting her up for tall poppy syndrome in the viewer's eyes.
Might look at Artem as a pro though, just curious on how he would be. Not sure why Alison Holker is there, she is a Mum in a relationship, isn't she? Maybe it will be a good pairing with an older star who won't do the romance angle. Do you think they have the stars lined up first and then hire the pro's according the stars wishes and to match personalities?
Dunno how that works, Gabriele. I heard that Meryl had requested being paired with Derek--probably because she knew him from the choreography he did with her and Charlie. I didn't know celebs could request a partner...but don't know much anyway!
I think Julianne is tainted by Hollywood now. Just a gut feeling I have. But I know she had a difficult childhood so she must have issues. So many "stars" do--and can't find stable relationships. I feel kind've sorry for her but otoh you can be whoever you want to be If you decide to be that. She no longer floats my boat at all so I may not watch either.
I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship. Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Meryl

Dang! Val looks like a ballet dancer with the whole package showing! These two would have to wear these suits in a backyard pool, not out in public on a Waikiki beach or anyplace else!!!

I'm here for a minute and will say goodnight. I must admit I've passed yet another evening entirely obsessed with M&M. I did go off on a tangent and watch all the Fred Astaire and skating videos. What the skating routines told me was that I would love to see M&M do a 4 minute dance. Watching Torville & Dean's paso doble original dance just made me what to say what Maks would do.
Charlie & Meryl are so good, but watching Torvill and Dean you can see what they were iconic. They skate SO close together. And inch or so off and they would be down. Apparently they didn't have to worry about twizzles either.
"Carpe fucking diem!" - Maks said it.
Sorry, I had to use this. I haven't laughed so much in a long time.

It feels that she is there to cause controversy. Not what makes me want to watch a show. She does come across as not very resolved as a person. Also, her and Derek went on this tour right after the show. So it is not just the family bond, but also shared business interest. Not a good picture if he were to win again. I can't imagine him getting a real contender for this reason alone.
