This is what I'm thinking today about the MnM situation.  As a disclaimer, I could change my mind at any minute, so take this with a grain of salt.  I think that after the show, Maks was all in and wanting to be with Meryl.  As time wears on, I wonder just how long he's going to hang around.  For Meryl's part- she has worked her butt off to win the OGM for 17 years.  Much of that time she "dated" you know who, or claimed to date him.  I honestly doubt she gave him much attention or time since no one, not even the skaters knew she was dating him.  Looks like her whole dating life has been  kind of off and on whenever she had time for him in her schedule.  Now she goes to DWTS and falls for Maks (yeah, I honestly think she did).  BUT, what does she do?  She doesn't really know how to have a relationship with constant contact and she is shy about media attention since she never really has had it before to this extent.  After reading her  mother's comments about how she has been a mole and only skated and has no everyday life experience (paraphrasing here), I realized she is dealing with much more than just falling in love with Maks.  She is suddenly without a major goal, she has free time, and she really doesn't know what to do with herself and Maks.  How does she navigate these incredibly new found waters?  She doesn't know and we sure don't know.  I think she might be afraid of what life with Maks would be, and while she might want him, I get the feeling that she is pushing him away.  I truly believe she wants him, but she doesn't know how to go about actually doing it.

I was a swimmer and it was the hardest thing I ever did was to give it up.  Many of the kids gave it up and then went back because they knew nothing else.  I was lucky, I started dancing and that became my life in high school.  So, I know a little bit of what Meryl must be going through.

The stuff with the diva and the Hampton's stuff and his refusal to really deny the diva relationship I think has really hurt MnM's relationship.  Maks maybe 34, but he's acting like a 20 yr old that doesn't know what to do.  The recent picture is an example.  It's like he's flailing in the dark and can't deal, so he acts out. Who knows, maybe he is good friends with this girl, but I honestly doubt it.  I wonder- is this a way of separating himself from the diva gossip, or is this a way of telling Meryl, "ok, I'm fine without you".  Whatever it is I have no clue.

I do believe (this morning <G>;) that if Meryl could have given the go ahead a month ago, they would be together and none of this other girl stuff would be going on.  At this point, I do wonder if they will ever get together.  He's building a track record that's going to hard to get over.  Should he sit at home every night?  I don't know what single 34 yr old men do in LA, but it's scary to think of.  Maks claims not to like that fake life, but look who he is constantly around--- plastic people- women who value looks and money and possessions.  (ok, I know that's judgemental, sorry)  Meryl was his real chance at a semi-normal life.  I hope it's not gone.  I guess today, I'm depressed for both of them.  Maks not getting the judging job, Meryl not knowing what to do, and the two of them needing each other and not being physically in the same place.

I cling to the belief that she was with him after Hawaii, but wonder if it worked out well.  If Val and Jenna are on the outs like most of us believe, then who knows.  I do know that the picture of Meryl and Jenna was outside his apt. so at least that's good.

At least I think Alex and Teddy and poppa C  are in LA for the opening of the studio.  So maybe they will hang together this weekend and there will be no more pictures of him with who knows what.

Sorry to go on and on, but I'm just frustrated with what's going on.  I sometimes am afraid to turn my computer on in the morning for fear of what I'll see.  At least today we have football!!!  Yeah, I love it, not as much as my husband and son, but I enjoy watching the college games.  So bring them on!!

Lots of insight here, and I could easily agree with everything. However, Meryl actually does have the goal of finishing college so it's not as if she doesn't know what to do. Although I guess she might not know what to do about Maks. They have only known each other slightly less than six months, so I have hope for them. Also, back in my day, it would have been difficult to keep something going (out of sight, out of mind), but today it is so easy to stay connected that I think that makes a difference. I guess we will just have to see what happens.

And, it looks to me as if he is wearing an earring! He doesn't do that anymore. Am I just seeing something that is not there?
