Okay, on the other thread Annie asked how I felt about Meryl and Fedor not ending up together. It's funny, because a few days ago I was thinking back to when I found out Meryl and Charlie were going to do DWTS. I was so excited I was going to see them dance, but I was also excited about the thought of seeing Fedor in the audience, cheering for Meryl. I figured they could finally step out of the shadows now that Meryl and Charlie had won their gold medal. I always assumed one of the reasons they had kept their relationship on the down-low was because of Fedor's mother, Marina, and not wanting people to accuse her of favoritism. Remember, she was also coaching M&C's biggest rivals, Virtue and Moir of Canada.
I remember also hoping Meryl would get paired with Derek or Val, knowing she would be fantastic with either of those guys as a partner. I never imagined she would get paired with Maks much less have the kind of chemistry we all saw between them. It caught me completely off guard.
I was disappointed when Fedor didn't show up during weeks one and two. Week three was when I started to sense something was going on between M&M but I wasn't sure. It wasn't until I saw that quote from Val that said he'd never seen his brother love another woman like he loved Meryl that I realized Fedor was history. It didn't matter because from that point on, it was all about M&M for me and I've never looked back. Those two put a spell on me that remains unbroken. But, if they decide not to pursue a relationship, I wouldn't mind seeing Meryl get back together with Fedor, but only if he makes her happy and proves to be worthy of her.
I have a bit more to say but I'll do it in another post...want to see if this one goes through.

From some of the romantic pics I've seen of Meryl and Fedor on Facebook, they seemed very much in love and happy together. I haven't seen any recent pics of him but when he was dating Meryl, he was drop dead gorgeous. I'm sure many women would say he's better looking than Maks. Women would actually hoot and whistle at him when he stepped on the ice and lucky Meryl kept him for three years.
Here's a couple of vids of Fedor:

Just finished watching the re-broadcast of the skating/gymnastics show. It was good but needed more Meryl and Charlie. LOL I loved seeing Kurt (he is a favorite of mine), Cody singing was okay (not a fan girl) and the rest. I really like that girl who skated with a shawl or scarf. I didn't know any of the gymnasts that performed, which made a lot of the show so, so for me. I can't wait to see the "Love on Ice" and especially "Shall we Dance on Ice". I will record that one. LOL
Booky, did you see "Love on Ice" when it first aired on TV? Was it good? Hey......didn't you go see a show "live"? Is it one that will be on TV? How was it? What an experience that must have been.
Okay, going to run.....it is beautiful here......going to go out and enjoy the sun before it goes down. lol Hope to see you all later.
Yes, hubby and I saw the Love On Ice show in Las Vegas where it was taped for television. I hate to say this, but many of the skaters including M&C seemed slow that night. Meryl and Charlie have always been known for their speed across the ice -- one of the things that set them apart from the other dance teams, so I was a bit disappointed since that's what I was expecting to see from them. I had to remind myself that they're not in training for competitions and have had so much on their plates lately, I couldn't expect them to be in Olympic form. Strangely enough, all of the performances looked better on TV than in person, I thought.
Still, I was thrilled to finally get the chance to see M&C skate live after following them since '09 when they were just starting to overtake Tanith and Ben. Oh, and it was also neat to watch O.A.R. perform live. Meryl and Charlie skated to their hit song, Peace, a song I love. By the way, Charmed mm made a Meryl and Maks video to that song. Here's the link to it:I so want to see Meryl and Charlie live. I am glad that you had the opportunity to see them even if it was a bit disappointing. Yes, M&C are fast on the ice. On the gymnastics show they looked like they were flying. Maybe, in LA they were tired or the song "fitted" a slower speed, although after listening to Charms link, I think you could skate fast to it, so who knows.LOL. BTW, beautiful song.
Did Charlie and Tanith look good in their skating routine? (I kind of hope "something" was missing..LOL) Like I said yesterday Meryl and Charlie are only meant to skate with each other..LOL I am a Meryl and Charlie Skating shipper for life. I loved them at the 2010 Olympics and their "Phantom" routine.
Thanks Booky, for sharing your experience.
Meryl, Charlie, Tanith and Ben came out and skated together. They switched partners for a bit and the audience thought it was cute when Charlie got down on one knee with Tanith in front of him. They were okay together, but I completely agree with you about not wanting to see Charlie skate with anyone but Meryl. I did think Tanith and Ben skated beautifully together to the song, A Thousand Years.

I would say too that he has it over Maks in the looks department. The recent picture is the one of him and Meryl on Christmas Day amongst Meryl's family. Would you agree that it is him, Booky? Coming from someone within the family circle, I think we can assume it is authentic. I watched the links, Booky. He comes off as likable. Not sure what makes people hate on him so much. Perhaps that he dated a number of his Mum's female students. They were in his age group at least. Definitely not as off-putting as when coaches date younger female skaters. He wore a cross around his neck - Christmas would mean something to him. And he is welcome to spend this special day with the Davis' family. That is the most significant clue we have, imo - it is third party evidence that wasn't intended for the wider public - just another shot for the family album. That's what makes it so compelling for me.

The Fedor connection has been difficult to reconcile with the touchy-feeliness between MnM. I suspect that it stems from a deep mutual understanding. We know of Meryl's dyslexia and that the dyslexic brain is 'wired' differently (my eldest is dyslexic too btw). Looking at what has come across Maks' lip over time, the insult of Len, that it is 'his' show, the remark to Karina about faking an orgasm...... the list goes on.... he has oftentimes shown to be the square peg, not fitting in round hole. So my theory is that they both recognise in each other that they stand out in some way and can relate to the difficulties thus experienced. Remember, Meryl was thought to not be able to emote sufficiently on the ice, while Maks was stuck with the bad-boy-image. I think their bond stems from having helped each other to overcome what others perceived as their weeknesses/shortcomings and thus proven their critics wrong.
