Ah, it is. It's the first day of autumn! A time for hot chocolatety mornings, and toasting marshmallow evenings, as best of all, leaping into *leaves*!

Re: The Perfect Ten! And Twentieth Season of DWTS

Happy Sunday, ladies!   Welcome to all the newbies who have joined us!   I wish some of them would post and introduce themselves.   I'm just checking in this morning before I dive back into work.  Another (3rd) new employee begins tomorrow, so that means I get little or nothing done while in the office and there are many things that are very pressing and going to come at me in the next month.

I am still up on cloud 9+ after receiving the response from Alex regarding my letter.   I don't want to post the whole thing, but I will certainly let you know when he does.   It was 2 pages long, so I'm curious to see what parts he will use and how.   I started writing a letter on the plane home from seeing Sway.   I edited and revisted and trashed 5 or 6 versions.   Finally, after I got the New Year's call from the manager of the studio where I took my lessons, I just sat down and wrote from the heart.   I did a bit of editing, but mostly proofreading.

As I said in my posts here, the lessons were great, the 4 shows I saw were magnificent, but it was how I was treated by every member of the fam that I encountered that was so overwhelming, I still cry when I think about it too much.   Eugene told me that all the people had been with them for years and that they were very careful whom they let in.   That explains the level of camaraderie and absolute trust that exists.   But the tone that is set in their studios, the way students are treated, the way anyone who has dealings with them is treated, and the level of appreciation they have for those who support them in their endeavors, and that starts at the top.   It is the code of a gentleman that was instilled by Mama and Papa C in their sons.   It is the behavior that is expected from the teachers and coaches.  It is the ideal way a man is expected to treat his dance partner.   In many ways, it is extremely old fashioned, but it works.

I have been from the first time I saw him on DWTS in Season 2, a Maks fan.  After my interactions with him, I am even more convinced that he is the man and gentleman I always thought he was.  Of course, he is gorgeous, but for me, I forgot what he looked like when he started looking at me and speaking.   I just hope they schedule Sway 3.0 when I can get there.   No matter when it is I will go for 1 show, but I would like to be able to stay for more.

I am also the biggest skating geek and have been since I was a child.   Janet Lynn used to train not far from where I lived, and we followed her obsessively.   I had never been much of an ice dancing fan, except for Torvill & Dean.  I knew who Meryl & Charlie were and that they won the gold medal, but I was not that familiar with their routines.   Now that I've gone back and watched them, I'm sorry I missed them when they happened.   I think one of the reasons I never cared for ice dancing was the commentary.   I always loved Dick Button who critiqued the skaters and let you know why a jump or spin was good or bad.  I've never skated but I can tell a lutz from a salchow.   I never really heard anyone do that kind of commentary with ice dancing.  They always talked about choreography and interpretation.   That's what I really like about some of Tanith's commentary.   So much of ice dancing is edges, and that's hard to see on TV.

I'm still firmly on the MnM ship.   I choose to believe that they have been (and maybe still are) together these last few dans when they've been silent. on SM.   They behave with each other like I have never seen evidence of either of them behaving with anyone else.   Their dances were wonderful and I watch them often, but it was not the dancing that made me a shipper, it was all their interactions off the dance floor.   The fact that their behavior has intensified over the last 9 months, despite their insane schedles, shows that it was not just the rarefied environment of DWTS.   The fact that they behave this way in front of each other's PARENTS, not to mention family & friends, speaks volumes to me, not to mention the birthday posts.   I think they have found a way to nourish their relationship that works.   They have consistently denied a relationship in the press--this keeps the paparazzi at bay.   But they then feel free to behave as they want in front of fans--VB, SWDOI, Sway, etc.  No random photo (even photos) will convince me that they are not a couple until I see one or the other of them draped over someone else they way they are with each other.

Have a great Sunday!  I hope the weather is as nice where you are as it is here.   It's supposed to be in 60s today although they are strong winds.

"Carpe fucking diem!"  - Maks said it.
Sorry, I had to use this.  I haven't laughed so much in a long time.
