Thanks for bringing this over. I had read it on tumblr -- maksylmyheart. Had to laugh when Charlie said, "It's all downhill from here".

Today Parade Magazine featured several love stories, one of which featured Marilyn vos Savant and Robert Jarvik(artificial heart inventor). Marilyn's I.Q. tested at 254 when she was 10 (not in this article), but she believes you need only so much IQ and the rest is superfluous. I had read an interview with them several years ago, and when they were asked if they ever engage in small talk the answer was,"No, never". She believes that women should keep their birth surname when they marry, although she uses her mother's birth surname as her last name. Also, she thinks that if you have children, sons should get the father's last name and daughters the mother's birth surname. I have thought that, too, for quite a while and was thrilled to be "validated" by Marilyn.(Of course, most people think I'm crazy when I dare to put that forth.) They put their marriage first in three important ways: 1. togetherness, 2. avoiding social media, and 3. family. This is what they said about social media: Neither vos Savant nor Jarvik have Facebook accounts. " That kind of thing seems to open a window on life outside your relationship," she says. He echoes, "Spending time on social media, that's an 'I' thing. I thought this was interesting. They have been married since August 23, 1987, a year to the day after they first met.

this is a great article. And dated today. a lot of nice give and take and longer answers than we sometimes see. A couple of things we've thought about - w//o really knowing their plans - caught my eye: "with Meryl acting as bridesmaid!, a foundation in the works for Davis, the Stars on Ice tour, and plans for a children’s book featuring two young skaters"
And what's better to take along with you when you have to be away from home: 1. a candle 2. your fiance

I just now read only the introduction to that story while I was eating lunch. Will read the rest later. I sort of agree with her, though maybe they could have a mutual Facebook page like C and M.
