I did watch last night...and I too thought it was a much better show than most years...moved right along.  Neil Patrick Harris was great.  AND Lady Gaga!   I was amazed and so impressed.  Just a straight forward performance honoring Julie Andrews... I've never really listened to much of her music (gaga) but, yeah, that was a wonderful surprise.

Kelly and Michael are on right now where I am....watched the dancers.

CEK and View, I agree with all of your comments about the Oscars last night.  For me, this was the most enjoyable Oscars show I've ever seen.  They really moved things along nicely which I appreciated.  That performance from Gaga was amazing and to see Julie Andrews walk out on stage made the moment so special...so emotional.  And how about that performance from John Legend, singing Glory from the movie, Selma!  It was so powerful!

Could it be that he is just helping her for something else she is doing? They aren't introducing the new "stars" until Feb. 23 on GMA.
 

Yes, that's possible Annie.  And if it turns out to be true, it's also possible she approached the show's producers about doing the show.  It's also possible that she requested Val as her partner, having met him through Janel.  I don't know much about Rumor, but I do know she's had some bit parts in movies, and hasn't made much of an impact in that regard.  She may see DWTS as an opportunity to jump start her career.  I think many of the celebs do the show for that very reason or to reinvigorate a flagging career.

Yes, she might be trying to help her career, but if the talent isn't there it won't really help even if her parents are Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. If she is on the show and paired with Val, I agree with East that he will be totally professional with her and do the best job possible.

I think 50% of it is the dancing and the other half is the connection the celeb makes with their partner that determines how they will do on this show.  I have no doubt that Val will give it his all, no matter who his partner turns out to be.  I also believe he will make it all about the dancing this time around.  I think he learned his lesson last season and won't be making the same mistake twice.
 

If they bring past stars in for a dance Meryl better be one !!!  (in a bad mood today....lol)
