Glub, glub.....coming up for air!!! It's been a hectic week but today we had liftoff which is to say that the quilt projects are done and ready to send off to tango who is carrying them to SWAY. Thanks, tango!! Photos will be forthcoming after SWAY is over and we know they are delivered safely. Don't want to spoil anything by some random stroke of stupidity!!
Hope that everyone had a wonderful and meaningful Memorial Day. Our town's ceremony included rededication of what is known as "the airplane park" where the veterans' memorial walk is located. McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) has been a large employer in our area for 50 years (about to close their last line and leave the state) so this park has had a Korean era airplane on a pedestal since 1964. Late last year it was removed and refurbished and a completely new and beautiful memorial was designed and built behind it. The airplane now "flies" over a simulated wood (made from special concrete) flight deck on the USS Intrepid where this airplane served during Korea. Tonite they will light the flight deck...so in a about an hour we are going back to the park to witness that event.
The city also made engraved bricks available for purchase by residents who wanted to commemorate a veteran or military person. These are laid in sections around the "flight deck" (you can see the gridded bricks if you look closely). It's pretty special to see your love one's name engraved for posterity! The city did a very impressive job!
Here is a photo of the airplane and memorial prior to the ceremony. Once the ceremony was over, they removed the stanchions and let everyone find their bricks. The city had actually sent to each purchaser a spreadsheet with information and a map of where to find their bricks!!! Just figuring that out was impressive to me!!! We found our bricks in about 3 minutes!!!
Don't know the Boy Scout...just happened to be there--and note that he looked away from the camera!!
I'll try to be on the board tomorrow. Missed all you ladies!!
Cassidy: I hope you won't make yourself too scarce. Love and prayers to you, your mom, and family. Hope all goes well with the new baby!

I am making it just under the wire for Memorial Day. I hope it was a meaningful one for all of you. Two friends, one African American (man) and another white (woman) posted this on Facebook today. I am ashamed to say I did not know this. The first Memorial Day was BlackAs we pause to remember the nation’s war dead, it’s worth remembering that Memorial Day was first celebrated by Black Union troops and free Black Americans in Charleston, South Carolina at the end ...SFBAYVIEW.COM

And Sharna is enjoying Cancun with her "main squeeze"
I have been there with hubby maybe 15 years ago, or so. Just for a 4 day weekend. The area around it was also worth the trip. Xcaret.
