Gabriele,
I love audio books.
Because I traveled with my husband for so many years due to his employment – actually traipsing along behind him usually a week or so later, with the dogs. And also because we have owned that lake cabin in Northern Minnesota – a good 7 hour drive, many times a year – a good audio book, read by an excellent narrator is a much valued thing.
I often listen to a book if I have major projects to accomplish in the house. I remember where I was, and what I was doing (refinishing the upper cabinets of the kitchen) as I listened to wonderful “The Painted Drum”, for example, by Louise Erdrich. And her books were almost always read by the phenomenal Anna Fields with her many voices.
I mention this because I am listening to an Oprah recommended audio book that I am enjoying so much. Even though I am only 1 track in to it. And it’s not a novel…it’s, I guess you could say, a travelogue ! Rolling on the floor funny sometimes, historical, fascinating, educational, and mind-boggling always.
I think you have said you are not a native Australian, but moved there from…Europe, gabriele. Have you ever read this book? The audio is by the author himself, which is also nice.

Find Out When Dancing With the Stars Will Announce the New Cast and More Details About Season 21By Jessica Radloff 6 HOURS AGOtSeason 21 of Dancing With the Stars is less than six weeks away, but you'll find out the new cast much sooner than that. In fact, you will see the full cast together on Good Morning America on September 2, with the pros perhaps being revealed ahead of time, as well as other surprises. AtABC/Disney's TCA party last night, DWTS Executive Producer Rob Wade and Co-Executive Producer Deena Katz filled us in on all the new developments, the latest on Len Goodman, and why even the producers can't believe who's signed on for season 21. Glamour: We’re at the ABC/Disney TCA party right now. Is there anybody in this room who is going to be on the new season of Dancing With the Stars?
Deena Katz: I want to go up to Chace Crawford and tell him, "Surprise! You’re on!"
Glamour: But is there someone in this room that’s already been cast?
Rob Wade: I haven’t seen everybody in the room yet, but there’s a good chance there might be. There’s people I definitely would want [that’s here] to be on the show!Glamour: How close are you to having everyone cast for season 21?
Deena: We’re just about done. We’re close.
Rob: We’re about 4/5 of the way there. We like to be around [this number] since we’re a very current show. The premiere of the show is still over a month and a half away, which is a long time. So you want to see [who's current in the news].Glamour: Will we have someone from an '80s sitcom in the mix?
Deena: Maybe. We like to throw the nostalgia in there.
Glamour: We really haven’t had many MLB stars on the show. Any chance that could change in season 21?
Rob: Maybe. It’s not only our choice, we have to get a yes from them too. We’d like to get a baseball star!
Glamour: Everyone's asking about Caitlyn Jenner. What’s your response to that?
Deena: I love Caitlyn Jenner, and at some point I would love her on our show.Glamour: What changes you can preview for season 21?
Rob: We’re going from celebrating [last season's 10th anniversary] to taking risks [in season 21]. We had a really fantastic season last season with new ideas like Judges' Choice, so that’s given us [the push] to take greater risks in our themes and competitions and challenges. We’re improving the show in every single area.Glamour: What’s the latest with the four judges? Are all of them returning?
Rob: We’re still talking to Len [Goodman] at the moment. He has a new grandson, and he’s got the U.K. show, so I’ve said to Len, "Look, don’t make a decision now. We’ll see where we are." Whatever happens, I can tell you that he may not be there for every show, so we’ll get guest judges again.Glamour: Kym Johnson is currently judging the Australian version of DWTS. Will she be back as a pro?
Rob: We’re talking to Kym about returning as a pro, but we don’t have the final cast list, so it’s hard to say, but we’ve been talking to her.
Glamour: Will we see a Team Sharkaroo wedding in the future with Kym and Robert Herjavec?
Deena: We hope so!
Rob: We’ll do a special! I hope there is. I would love a wedding! Glamour: Many of the pros are currently on the DWTS 10th Anniversary Tour. Will troupe members like Jenna or Brittany become pros in the next season?
Deena: Eventually, but what’s great about the troupe is that it’s a great place to learn, because there’s a lot to learn about doing our show. You look at Witney, or the people that came up from doing the troupe, and it really is a great place. They are part of the family.
Rob: Every single troupe member is more than capable of dancing on Dancing With the Stars, however you have to choreograph, take creative direction, deal with the pro, handle the pressure, interviews, workload. WhenDerek [Hough][/url] and [url= ]Mark [Ballas] started it was easy because the expectations were so low. We didn’t have all the different dances and all those things. So to rush people through the troupe is not a good idea, but we’ll see where we are.Glamour: Rob, earlier this spring you told us that the switch-up week didn’t take place last season because it was too hard to coordinate with the 10th Anniversary show at the same time. Will the switch-up be back in season 21?
Rob: I think 99% yes. We’ve even got a little tweak to that as well. There’s going to be some surprises! We don’t do surprises to mess with people. America’s Choice might be coming back in some way. All these things just give the couples a different challenge, and I think it’s important to do that.Glamour: Rumer Willis said that the only way Maksim Chmerkovskiy said he would come back is if he could dance with her younger sister, Tallulah. Could that actually happen or is it just total B.S. for lack of a better word?
Rob: I think it could happen.
Deena: I heard her little sister or her mother [Demi Moore].
Rob: With every dancer who has moved on from the show, the door is always open [for a return].
Deena: Look at Kym Johnson. She moved on and then came back. It’s a family. Glamour: Alfonso Ribeiro told me earlier tonight that he called Ricky Schroder personally to try and recruit him next season, but Ricky doesn't seem to want to do it. Can you confirm that?
Rob: I don’t know, I can’t confirm or deny!
Glamour: But you’re smiling!
Rob: [Laughs] What I can say is that I would love Ricky Schroder on the show.
Deena: I’ve asked him over and over again, so...just because Ricky says no, it doesn’t mean no forever.
Rob: Maybe one day. If Ricky is listening now, or reading now...
Deena: Ricky, it could be the time of your life!
Rob: It doesn’t matter if you can’t dance or don’t think you can dance. The show is not about that. It’s about learning to dance and overcoming your fears.
Glamour: Chris Soules couldn’t dance at first, and look how far he went!
Rob: And he got better too!Glamour: When we last sat down in May, you told me that you don’t believe a celeb is a sure thing onDWTS until you’ve had a chance to talk to them on the phone and not just their agent or manager. So how many of the new cast have you actually talked to?
Deena: Well, I’ve talked to more than he has! I’ve talked to almost all of them. I think the last two are coming in [today].
Rob: We’ve sat down with a lot of them. I know I’m the producer on the show, but it’s a really good cast. I don’t want to jinx this, but there’s a couple people in there that I was like, "Wow, we got them." And then you meet them and you’re like, "Yeah. Oh yeah." I’m excited, but I’m not jinxing it!Dancing With the Stars returns Monday, September 14.

I met Candace today! When I got up there she said hi and stuff. Then I told her how I loved watching her on dwts and that she did amazing. She said thank you and all that. And then she saw my phone case so she was like “ Aww is that everybody from the show?” And I was like “It’s Meryl & Maks” and she was like “Awww Meryl & Maks are the best”. On the inside I’m just like YOU GO GIRL💕
I want this for MY phone, but I'm so technically challenged I'm wondering how it was done. LOL

I'm sure I have listened to some of his work, view. But there have been literally hundreds of audiobooks and I don't remember most authors, let alone titles. When I get a bunch of new ones from the local library, I usually go for the 'australiana' category first, followed by historic novel and never thrillers.
This week I finished Sarah Dunant's 'Sacred Hearts'. It sounds like our approach to mundane tasks is very similar view. I listen to audio books when I do the dishes. We don't have a dishwasher for a number of reasons. I last had one in the 80s, but didn't like the smell of the chemicals. I'm sure they are better now, but our house isn't connected to the main sewer. There is only a soakage bed, old style and the overflow goes straight in a winter creek which feeds into the water catchment area. We wouldn't be prevented from having a dishwasher. But there is little point in a 1 1/2 person household. I do a lot of our cooking using either the Thermomix or a sandwich press.
