Re: Season 21 - Countdown to the Finale

Hi, Sisters!

We are in AZ for the weekend....our annual trek for a flying event.  I was a bit under the weather with a horrible stomach something for most of the day....till about 3 PM when the kids, our English friend, and I went out for about an hour to haunt a quilt show and Hobby Lobby in the Mesa area.  Had a soup supper tonite and the waitress brought me some club soda with fresh lemon in it...both helped me feel better.  Really do HOPE that tomorrow will be a new day.  Spent the day outside at the flying site with everyone...and I must say that my grandchildren were absolutely SUPERB in understanding and entertaining themselves while DiDi was under the weather.  We are usually out haunting the desert, climbing hills, planting "flags" (sticks!) on the hill top, remodeling our "rock house", and making weaponry while pretending to be living in pioneer times.  So there is much to catch up on tomorrow---hoping I'll be ok by morning.  Still have a headache.

Here are a few pics for you.

This one is of the Superstition Mountains east of Mesa.  If we lived here, we would live where we could have a full  view of them.  The shadows create so many different "views" and colors.  This was about 4 PM today local time.

This one is tonite's sunset.  Probably caught it a bit late, but the colors are always wonderful!

Here are the kids flying their tiny little radio control airplane at dusk (it was much darker than the pic would indicate) with PaPa coaching!!  They are both doing well at flinging it around the sky.  It actually belongs to our granddaughter, who wanted it for her birthday in September, so we obliged.  She is good at sharing with her brother.

OK...I am going to send View my pics for Monday and hit the rack.  Very tired and head is not feeling too great.

Sweet dreams and (((hugs))) to you all!  *waving*  And, HI, GUNNER!!!

Tango:  Sorry to have missed you Wed., but glad you had a good Fratelli's adveture!  Hope your SD conference is good as well and that the stuff all showed up!!!  That is the WORST when something like that happens.  There is a nice mall with higher end stores at the junction of I-8 and 163.  Exit on Friars Road West (2nd Friars offramp).....oh--silly me!  You have an iPhone!!!  LOL

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Re: Season 21 - Countdown to the Finale

Morning everyone.

I am "following" Tango on twitter for the next couple of weeks...She said I could snip from the other board and share with us all here.  She is limited for time as you can imagine.

She posted this a couple of days ago:

Nov 18, 2015 at 11:28pm tangodancer said:Oh my, what a day! At first, I thought it was Monday because of everything that went wrong. Hubby dropped me off at an airport hotel last night. Flight was at 8:45 today, I thought. So I thought if I got there at 7:15 or so, it would be fine. Since I'm here for a conference + Thanksgiving, I had a large suitcase and 4 boxes to check on Southwest (something I do quite frequently). I made it to the curbside check in where there was quite a line. Finally, I was almost to the front of the line and a guy walking behind us missed the curb and face planted behind us. Almost 10 min. disruption as we saw how badly he's injured, get help, wait for him to decide he's all right except for broken glasses and a cut on his face. I finally got up to the counter, and the guy said he can't help me because the person who can charge the fee to my credit card wasn't not there. I'd have to wait for her. Now every time in the past I've done this, the person has prepared everything and then passed me to the person who can do the charge or taken me inside to someone else who can. Full 10-mn wait for this person to appear. Got all the paperwork completed and waited to make sure everything was correctly tagged. Got in line for TSA pre and my Valentin hoodie!!! set off the metal detector. Had to do the full body scanner and then a manual pat down. Then my backpack with my laptop in it had to be rescanned with the laptop removed. Finally, looked for my gate and sat down, wondering why there were so few people. Finally, about 15 mn before departure, I went to check the gate, and my plane was not listed. I asked the girl what happened. Apparently, I was at the wrong gate (not quite sure how that happened, but I hadn't had coffee yet). I ran to the other end of the terminal and was the last one on the plane. Not only did I get the dreaded middle seat, they had to gate check my roller bag.

Made it finally to CA, met my friend (who just escaped the chaos of the blizzard in Denver to arrive a few minutes before me), and my suitcase came out of the baggage carousel as did my gate checked roller bag....but...no boxes. So I spent quite a while in the baggage area figuring out where the boxes were and when I might be able to receive them. Then we had a close-to half-mile trek, trailing luggage, to get our rental car. Both of us were exhausted, jet lagged and hungry. I suggested Fratelli's. It took about 30 mn to get there, but as we walked up, I could picture MnM sitting on the terrace, recalled the pictures of Maks working to help remodel the place. We were greeted and went up to the counter to order, and who should be there taking our order but Yaron.

My friend placed her order and paid, and then it was turn. I told him what I wanted, and I asked if he was Yaron. Of course, I knew he was, but thought it less creepy to ask. I told him I was there because of Maks, because of all the food pix that he has posted. I asked him if he was coming to Sway and said I would be there, too. He asked where I was from, and I told him. I said I had been to the last 2 Sways as well, and had front row seats to all 5 of the upcoming shows. He walked over to the side and said "Henry, we've got a Swayer here." And there was Henry sitting right there with a friend!

All my travel trials and tribulations were forgotten in an instant. I stepped over and reminded Henry who I was. I told him I was sorry that I hadn't been able to see Forever Tango, but that I was going to Sway for the whole week and would see him there.

My friend and I went out on the terrace and had our late lunch. The food was terrific, every bit as good as the fam's comments and the pix have suggested. I posted a pic of what we ate on instagram at tango.dancer.75

Then we got on the road and drove 4+ hours to San Diego where we are now.

Re: Season 21 - Countdown to the Finale

I have a busy morning today...but I'll check in again later this afternoon.

Thanks for the picks jet and gabriele.    I did get the Word/Excel problem fixed, so should be able to continue as the Chartmaster for a few more days!!   What timing!  for the program to expire.

Re: Season 21 - Countdown to the Finale

Loved the pictures, jetmama.  Sometime I'll try to post some from the area in southern AZ where we go.

I just thought of a fun photography related tale.  When I find some time, I'll share it on the other thread.

Love your pictures. Thanks for sharing. Were these taken with your Cannon?  Your pictures turn out better then mine. LOL

So sorry to hear that you were not feeling well.  Glad the soup and the club soda helped.  Hopefully, you feel better today.

Tango, what an experience at the airport.  UGH....So glad that you didn't miss your flight being in the wrong area.  That is so easy to do.   Did they ever find your boxes?  I am happy that you and your friend had such a great experience at Fratelli's......you may have had bad luck at the airport, but when it comes to the "DWTS fam" your luck runs great. LOL  Seeing Henry must have been wonderful.  Hopefully, the rest of your trip runs smoothly.  Hope you can check in again soon.
