Thx for good wishes. Got home about 5. Actually the worst part was the SEVEN tries it took them to start an IV. I hate needles. Achy now and incision burns as they said it would, but excruciating pain of unexpected movement is gone. Good pain pills and ice helps. Dr gave me 4 options for shattered bone--do nothing, remove some fragments, rebuild with screws, replace head of bone with metal n implant. Only #4 have full functionality of elbow. So it was not really a choice. 14 weeks till dance competition. Dr said I should be ready. I told everyone about competitiom because I didn't want them to treat me like old lady.
And my situation seems so trivial compared to Aprils. Im forwarding any hugs/prayers I receive her way, too.
Drifting off again.Sorry to hear of the accident, tango.
I think I have some idea of your situation. My eldest had a quad bike accident at a friend's place when he was 13 years. Silly boys, he could have ended in a wheelchair - I had no idea they had gone there after school. It sheared his radial head of. It was repositioned surgically, but without screws as the fragment was too small. He then had a radial head necrosis and the space is now filled with gristle tissue. He has very limited movement in his right arm since. He has to have the same surgery as yours, I believe, but they try to put it off as long as possible as he was so young. Hope you will feel better soon and be able to throw your arms around whichever way is needed for your dance movements.![]()
Yes, I think thats exactly it gabriele. The surgery is something like radial head arthroplasty.

Morning, friends.
Awww, tango. Sorry to hear you took a tumble. Let me join in and wish you a speedy and full recovery.
In late January when we were in Arizona, my husband and I were eating in a café located in a shopping plaza. We were sharing a table with another nice couple because space was limited. We two women were on the side of the table facing the door and windows. Suddenly I saw this woman outside kind of crumble/collapse to the ground.
She was with a man, but he was older and sort of helpless in the face of it. I asked my husband to go out because he has had much safety training through the years with his job. Someone was already calling 911, but hubby went out and cushioned her head etc. and waited with them.
My point is, she had gotten out of their car, tripped on the parking curb, lunged forward of course and slammed her head against the sign post!
It was kind of like this picture:
In the end, it seemed she would be ok. The emt was informing her what to watch for with a head bump when we left.
I think many of us on this board are 60 and over… It reminds me of my mother who lived a long life, and independently. She once told me she kind of “sized up” the situation a little more as she aged. And took stock of her strength, balance etc instead of just heading off pell-mell as she would normally do.
And about a year ago, a good friend of mine fell while filling her car with gas…went back to wait in the car and tripped on the hose running to her tank.
