Hi guys.....happy Saturday morning
and WE'RE OUT OF ICU!!!!!!!!!! they moved her back to the bone marrow unit .....and her old room
she is doing really well....they still are not 100% sure what caused her breathing problems but when they did the bronc-oscopy she tested negative for pneumonia and they saw no major problems....the general thought is she had built up so much fluids, her kidneys were having trouble keeping up and the extra fluid caused the breathing problem.....after they did a couple days of dialysis to take out the extra fluid she got better quickly and they are now done with dialysis too

Well, I was awaken by an earthquake this morning. What a strange and scary feeling. Pretty big, strong and long lasting. Not only am I worried about the foundations, but the pipes and gas lines. This is something I am not used to. LOL Give me tornadoes and such....keep them earthquakes out of the middle of the country. hehe..
On a second note.........I hope that all of the East coast dwellers are doing okay from the hurricane/tropical storms. Looks like all of Florida got wind/rain and now it is heading up and away from land......thank goodness.
I guess, if it isn't one thing it is another.....LOL
Hope everyone has a great day !!!!
Well, Luv...I missed hearing this news anywhere else earlier today!! WELCOME TO SHAKERVILLE!!! The earthquake you felt, I read, was magnitude 5.6 at the epicenter (Pawnee, OK), which is actually quite moderate!! LOL And there are rollers and there are shakers!!! You don't feel them as much downstairs as you do at higher levels. I know it is scary if you've never felt one before, but you won't get sucked into a funnel cloud nor will the crack run thru your basement!!! The most frightening thing, imo, is the noise...and that is all the creaking in the house. Best thing to do if you are in bed is to stay there....or to roll off and lie right next to the bed. They don't last long enough usually to do much but think, "oh, we're having an earthquake", so stay calm and just know where to turn off your gas and water should you need to do that. We do have some evidence of earthquake stresses in some of our walls and in our concrete slab (most homes here are built on concrete slabs--no basements), but we have (knock on wood!) fortunately not had any major damage to our house in its 45 year life span.
Not to alarm anyone, but it has been predicted for quite a long time that the next seriously major earthquake (8.5 or above) will be in the New Madrid Fault in the bootheel of Missouri. The structures in the midwest are of much less flexible materials than structures out here on the west coast where our homes are wood frame and stucco. They are built that way to better withstand earthquakes (we have small ones all the time; just don't feel most of them). So do not panic! You'll be fine!
Here are a few bits of info from the New Madrid Fault info site:
"Due to the harder, colder, drier and less fractured nature of the rocks in the earth’s crust in the central United States, earthquakes in this region shake and damage an area approximately 20 times larger than earthquakes in California and most other active seismic areas. Even though large earthquakes occur much less frequently in the NMSZ than in California, the long term average quake threat, in terms of square miles affected per century, is about the same because of the approximately 20 times larger area affected in the central United States." (This was interesting to me...also many of ours occur off the coast and/or deep in the ground...due to slipping of the techtonic plates that run along the Pacific coastline.)
"The primary cause of damage and injuries in earthquakes is the destruction of manmade structures and their contents. Modern society is highly dependent on our manmade structures and infrastructure. Tall structures (buildings, bridges, dams, etc.), structures with large open spaces (auditoriums, classrooms, factories, hospitals, churches etc.), structures made of brittle materials (brick and unreinforced concrete), structures with complex shapes and lots of corners and unanchored building contents (bookshelves, file cabinets, storage racks, pipes, fire sprinkler systems, water heaters, mechanical equipment, etc.) are particularly susceptible to damage from shaking."
Finally....just to inject a little humor into this serious topic, during one earthquake we had about 20 years ago, my hubby was sitting on the toilet when it occurred!!!! LOL LOL He came out asking if toilets should require seat belts!!!

Luv are you alright???? did you have any damage to your property???
We are doing ok here really really windy and there are a ton of small limbs in the yard but the rain has not been to bad here ! Thank goodness for that.Hi CEK.......you mean we are online at the same time?? lol
Haven't checked out things yet, but it did get me to worrying. lol I believe they are saying it was a 5.6 quake that started in OK and has been felt in a lot of different states. It was pretty bad here. Woke me up and I could hear the rumbling and things moving here and there.
I hope you don't have any big trees come down in all of that wind you are getting. You never know when one of them decides to come crashing down,. especially when the ground is wet. Glad it isn't too bad where you are, still, you probably will have some clean up work to do.Oh no Luv...maybe because we are twins that is why I woke up out of a deep sleep too....LOL
You be safe. I know what you mean about trees...my neighbor has three huge and very tall pines in the front yard that sway back and forth and scare the heck out of me....
Powerlines are more likely to be damaged or fall than trees.

I remember we had the tremors from one here and that was scary...I can't imagine having a huge one where I live.
The story about your hubby made me chuckle...I can see the look on someone face when that happens...LOL
