This kind of grosses me out because as much as I love homemade soap (used to make it myself before it became so available - made by better than I) and love the idea of wool, felted as a cover to the soap, creating a lanolin rich "wash cloth"  -  wouldn't the wool get soiled like any washcloth would, etc.  and wouldn't the wet shroud keep the soap wetter and soft between uses....

I'm thinking as I'm typing, ladies...bear with me....
I think I will make a felted wool pouch or pocket for a bar of soap to fit it. But then removed after use.

View....I know only a little bit about the properties of wool but what little I know may be useful in your little experiment. If we think about sheep and the fact that their wool is essentially a heat insulator but also has cooling properties for the sheep in the summer, I am inclined to think (logically or not!) that if the wool is left ot air dry, there should be little or no mold...i.e. it shouldn't "grow" anything. The beauty of wool batting in quilts is its breathing quality; it doesn't trap the heat like polyester. You can actually use quilts with wool batting in summer and winter...particularly in climates where the evenings are cool.

I would be interested in the results of your little "study"! The trick will be to find 100% wool, however. Most felted wool contains much less than 100% wool....so maybe you have some knitted socks that are ready for the bin that you could use to test against felted wool from another source? Just thinkin'.....

Commercial sock wool usually has 75% wool and 25% of something like nylon to make it hard wearing.  We can get freshly shorne (and rather dirty) fleeces everywhere here.  Spinning is quite common here, too.  But that is Australia.....

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. We fell in love, but our way. Maks

Friendship is a priceless gift that can't be bought or sold, its value is far greater than a mountain made of gold.
May this FriendSHIP always have wind in its sails and a sunrise on the horizon.

View...sounds like a good idea but I too would take the soap out after use...I would think the felted wool would be good for the skin not only for the lanolin but for the possibility of exfoliating your skin too...

As I said earlier, there is felted wool and there is wool....I just threw away some "wool" i felted that came out HORRIBLE!! Obviously a JoAnn product that was the pits. It would have done fairly well as a scrubber probably, but certainly would NOT look nice as anything else!!! It was probably 35% wool, but at JoAnn's you can sometimes get away with it....for the price.

I was wondering the same thing about using 100% wool or something of not 100%...

Good Sunday Morning to all my Sisters in the Sisterhood....
Nice weather here again today...a bit overcast but warm temps....YAY

Well it was late when I got home from the Weight Lifting Competition yesterday evening and I was absolutely beat and hungry.
My son finished first in his weight class and Kaleb was so excited for his daddy....he had two personal bests.  He lifted 562 pound in squats, he bench pressed 370 and he dead lifted 561 pounds...the squat and deadlift weight were personal best...I am proud of all is had work, he is at the gym every day by 5:30 comes home showers and then goes to work to teach all day long...There was one lifter there that dead lifted 700 pounds...that is a lot of weight...

So how is everyone today...hope you are all having a good weekend and your weather is not to terribly bad...

Well since I didn't check any news yesterday hopefully there will be a little to post today....

OMG!!! That is AMAZING!!! Congrats to him!

Thanks Jet...he works hard at it but the main thing is that he loves doing it...not for the competition but for the process of bettering himself.

thanks so much for the recap   hopefully it will be an early spring for you    I can't wait for the new season to start

We have been really lucky this winter and the temps are mostly for the rest of the month going from mid 40 to 60's
So not sure what that will me for our summer this year...

By the way my MIL is loving it at the Villages...she is alway talking about how nice the weather is and that her sinus and eyes are not bothering her like it was here with allergies...

Nice about your MIL, CEK....she will do well there.

I think she will to Jet...once she gets completely settled in and use to the new things around her.

Evening Sisters...Just wanted to stop in for a few before I get ready to watch Victoria....are any of you watching it??? My daughter and I are and we are really enjoying it.  After starting it I had to start doing some research on Queen Victoria and her family line...Quite interesting I must say...

Well I am going to take a peek at the news and see if there is anything exciting to report!!!
