The rain has pretty much gone. It's supposed to clear out by afternoon/evening.
Going to a 99th birthday party this evening....with a balsa wood airplane contest as part of the "entertainment!" The honoree is an amazing man....AF pilot for many years; still holds one or two flight records. Haging been asked by his commanding officer to be one of the pilots on a B-24 ferry ission to Hawaii, he/they actually arrived at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 while the bombing was going on, Several B-24 LIberators had flown all nite from SF....dead reckoning across the ocean...and had no idea what was going on when they got there. Unarmed airplanes, low on fuel, they had to land. The lot of Liberators landed safely on Ford Island (near Pearl Harbor) but it was quite a story with lots of luck just getting there! I hope he will wear his white dress slacks and LIME GREEN sport coat tonite!!! At 99, this man is straight, walks unassisted, and has an incredibly sharp mind. He has some great stories!
Gotta run for now. Have a great Saturday!

The carrot cake experiment, if you will, tastes nice! It has cream cheese icing with walnuts sprinkled on top. Sent some of it home with my friend (who had the birthday). She is a widow so lives alone with her 2 dogs and a bird!!! LOLThe carrot cake sounds fabulous. That was my husband's favorite; my daughter's was Italian Cream Cake.
My favorite "go to" Bundt cake is so simple it's ridiculous....and so delicious! It is a wine Buncdt cake Didn't have enough sherry left to make it yesterday (and the 2 stores where I shopped for it were out as well!).
Here's the recipe:
1 yellow cake mix
1 small pkg vanilla pudding (instant)
3/4 c oil
3/4 c sherry (any cheap one works! Fairfield or Gallo is most prevalent out here)
1 T nutmeg
4 eggs
Put all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly; bake in Bundt pan till done (about 45-50 min.) at 350.
Dust with powdered sugar when cake has cooled.
Sounds yummy...may have to try this one...

Ooops!!! What happened to the Stay-at-home Dad?!!! LOL. What a riot!!!!!! Laughing myself silly!!! You can see both Maks and Peta literally "hovering" around the stroller!!! Both Nanny and Peta have a hand on it......
I actually never thought they would have a nanny, not sure why I did except for all the times that Maks talked about being a hands on stay at home daddy and having Peta to go back to work....Hmmmm

Carrot Cake was the one my son always wanted for his birthday cake. I love them...did you put walnuts or pecans in yours??? I love walnuts in mine!!!
Walnuts....they are actually very good for you nutritionally and personally I love the little "bite" they have. I get (California) raw walnuts at Trader Joe's when they are available.....the best! Just keep them in the fridge or freezer so they don't get rancid.
I love walnuts just to eat by themselves...my MIL makes a black walnut pound cake that is yummy!!! Funny my MIL makes all my favorite desserts I guess I will have to do a bit more baking now that she isn't down the street...

So it would appear!!! LOL

. Now I understand why she's pumping!!! LOL
I read the article and Maks has projected his own expectation on the baby already!!! OY!! Let the kid be who he is and don't expect anything other than good character and judgement!!! LOL. There is nothing more damaging to a child than trying to fulfill a parent's expectations. Maks talked about the $1bil contract of LeBron James and how Shai needed to be 6'6" so he could play basketballl and make big bucks. Pro sports are....well....a whole other level of expectation. I hope Shai will become whoever he is as he grows--and that Maks will accept that without judgement..
I have found from friends and family when you make expectations or plan out your childrens future it usually never turns out how you want it to and most of the time it will backfire in your face and then haunt you for years to come...I have seen parents try to sway their children into doing things they don't want to be it professions or college courses and it never ends pretty most of the time...When my son was little he wanted to be a "bubble gum machine filler upper" and that was fine with me...I told them whatever they choose to be they had to be the very best at it and love what they were doing...it isn't always about the money...and both of my children are good at what they do. They both teach one high school and one college...they will never be millionaires but they are happy and love what they do.
