    Yes....she won the World's 5 times and Olympic gold in 1960, after which she retired from skating.  I think she married fairly soon after that.  I read she promised her mother, who was sick with cancer, not to go pro until she won the gold medal.  At that time you could NOT compete in the Olympic Games if you had used your sport for financial gain.  I remember that because I was flabbergasted when they started using pro athletes to form Olympic teams as it was supposed to be strictly limited to amateur athletes.  Of course, the US was late to the game and we gained a distinct advantage after the games were opened up to pros.  They pretty much changed the rules because so many other nations used their pro athletes in the Olympics, which put our amateurs/teams at a disadvantage.

    Funny, CEK....as we were driving to our 99th birthday party last nite, an instrumental version of Hotel California came on the radio and we said, simultaneously, "That's Hotel California by the Eagles!

    They were and still are one of my favorite groups...I always wanted to see them in concert but they were never close enough or the tickets were way to expensive...

    I know....I still like them.  The tickets are insanely expensive...and I don't get that!!  I guess the market dictates....because they sell out!
