we had the Britannica set.......lol....and yeah those things were expensive.....and HEAVY if you had to carry one or more with you to school

When my (now deceased) Father dissolved his household to go to a retirement home in 2008, he asked me if I want to have it shipped to Australia to keep it.  So, it is still in our shed, but untouched.  I'm not sure, my sons or I will ever open any of them, but I know that my Father had a leaf through almost daily just for curiosity.  He wouldn't ever read a book other than on botanics, but he 'read' the encyclopaedia on many subjects.

Oh wow.....I bet he knew a lot about a lot of different things, he would have been awesome on Jeopardy   .........they will probably be considered antiques one day and could be  valuable.....even though to me just the sentimental value would be priceless for the memories of your dad

It is, April.  He offered it to my brother first who didn't want it...  But I knew he would be heartbroken to see it going to the dump.  My Dad didn't get much formal education as he fled (in the dark of the night...)  from the Russian occupied Eastern Germany just after the war and had to get through somehow on his own without family support.  I believe he was very intelligent nonetheless and something like the encyclopaedia quenched his thirst for knowledge.  Such different times...   I'm glad we are part of the easy information age now.

(((hugs))) to you, April.

WOW......what an amazing story he has.....it sounds so interesting........and how much those encyclopedias must have meant to him......have you ever written down his story????   and I agree I am glad we live in the information age now ......and what a reminder his story is of how blessed we truly are to have so much information available at the touch of our fingers

Can say I'm a descendant of the original 'political refugee' or 'illegal immigrant' that there were millions of.  Maybe that makes me so proud that Germany takes in extraordinary numbers in the current crisis.  Never thought about it that much, but I guess it is.

Did you click on that People link in the post, annie?  I did, and it did not give a reason.

No, I didn't click on that link; guess I should have.

DWTS Season 24 Watch Out: ‘Criminal Minds’ Shemar Moore Has A Secret!

Could Shemar Moore be dancing in the new season of Dancing With The Stars? I don’t know…..but, ‘Criminal Minds’ and former ‘Young And The Restless’ soap star (when I use to watch this soap, I loved him!) has a huge secret right now. What an awesome get if he’s dancing. What do you think? Thanks to CH for the heads up.

Look out for those smoldering eyes, Sharna...if he is her partner.

I think shirtless he would put the DWTS boys to shame.

I think shirtless you are right...and those eyes...he and Sharna would be great!!!

Re: SEASON 24 is knocking at our door...

Good Sunday Afternoon to you all...I hope your weekend is going well.

Forgive my absence yesterday but after we got home from Kaleb and Kenzie's first attempt at Ice Hockey it was so nice outside that hubby and I did a few errands and some things outside and I am glad we did because today it is about 20 degrees cooler than yesterday in the 50's and a bit windy.
Sorry I missed April and Gabriele last night!!!!  But after my busy day I fell asleep in the recliner at about 8 pm...LOL

Kaleb and Kenzie had a great time yesterday...The junior Ice Hockey team here "The Hampton Roads worked with all the children that came out yesterday to get a taste of Ice Hockey...I give them all the credit for doing it yesterday because they really had patience with the little ones...

Kenzie did really good and after about 30 minutes Kaleb finally figured out how to stand up and actually move with the skates on...he is ready to start playing Ice Hockey now...Kenzie kept saying my ankles hurt...LOL  I know that feeling...I use to love to ice skate and snow ski and I remember how sore your ankles and legs get.  I so wish I could skate now but with my back and knee like it is  I am to afraid of falling and really hurting myself.  My daughter took figure skating lessions and my son played on a little ice hockey league for a while.  I told my son that he needs to take Kaleb and Kenzie and even Kaylee (she was not happy she couldn't get out and skate yesterday) to see a hockey game.  They would have a blast.

So I see the rumors for the new season are staring to fly...I read the article about Jenna not returning but then I found another one that said she was coming back...Just like I have read that Kym was and wasn't coming back, so I guess we will just have to wait to see exactly who will be on Season 24...However I do hope Sharna and Shemar are paired together...That would be a great pair...not sure if he can dance but h is nice to look at....LOL

Now time for the news....
