Re: Season 26 Off and Running....

Good morning, Sisters!  Hope you all had a good evening watching America’s Got Talent!  And hope you had a chance to vote for Voices of Hope (or your favorite act of the nite....and there were many good ones!).

Had an interesting day with my sister-in-law...who is the grandmother of my great nieces who are singing with the group.  SIL and I always have a great time together....so we had a lot of good laughs!

Left my house about 11:15 so we could get to Hollywood, park, and exchange our 1PM email ticket for a “real” ticket to get into the Dolby Theatre.  There was a long line, but it moved quickly.  The theatre is in a multi-story mall sort of place adjacent to the Loews (as in Lerner and Loews) Hotel where all the acts are staying tonite (courtesy of AGT) so they can get ready for tomorrow’s show.  We were standing in line and my SIL says, “I wonder if we can get tickets downstairs on the floor if I tell them I have cataracts and can’t see that well?!”.   “Yeah, right....(with a LOL)”, I replied.  When it gets to our turn, we walk up to get 3 tickets (one for the girls’ dad who was coming from work), they tell us they only have Mezzanine 1 and 2 seats left.  So she politely gives the “cataract” story....the girl politely says they don’t have any better tickets....we get Mezzanine 1 tix and walk off.  She says to me, “Well....lol....I guess hat didn’t work very well!!!”. I said, “Did you really think it would?  You know they’ve heard that one before, I’m sure!!!”.   We had a good laugh and wandered into a cool....VERY OVER PRICED....upscale souvenir type place called “Sweets” and looked around for a while.

Her son-in-law, who is not good with directions, started calling (like every 3 minutes!)....lost....so we went down to the parking garage to try to find him!!!  Amazingly, we did!!!!  LOL. There was still quite a lot of time to kill before the doors opened at 2:15 prior to the pre-taping of two acts and the show opening, which were to begin at 3:15.  At one point in the waiting (we decided not to get in the horrendously long lines but wait till the end—seats were assigned) we were told my an official that they would be letting people in on the 2nd level, so we went upstairs to wait since that was where our seats were.  Turned out that was bad information but while we were up there (enjoying the cool breeze), we were plotting tomorrow’s sequence to the failed “cataract” story!!!  I remembered seeing a very elderly lady downstairs in a wheelchair, so I said to my SIL, “I think we should wrap your ankle up, drag out GG’s wheelchair (from SIL’s. house), and I’ll push you up to the ticket table tomorrow....maybe we’ll have better luck!!!”. We were so impressed with ourselves, we doubled over with laughter but somehow she decided that I needed to be the victim!!!!!  LOL. LOL

Anyway, we managed to kind’ve cut thru the line without being noticed....lol....and had to go thru security scanners (not very thorough), then went in to find our nosebleed seats not too long before the Voices of Hope performance was going to be video taped.  They were late getting started because the automated doors at the back of the stage area decided to take a dive, which is why you saw all the roadies/stage hands all over the place all nite!!!  They definitely earned their money tonite!!!

They pre-taped Voices of Hope because of logistics with the risers....putting them up and taking them down would not work in the live show time frame.  So we actually saw the pre-taped performances 3 times (one rehearsal/warm-up, then the actual taping for the live show, and finally the taped performance during the show!).  The other pre-taped performance was the next to the last act, which was the virtual reality guy that no one really understood!!!  LOL. I remember a couple times at least on DWTS when they have used the dress rehearsal video on the live show because someone got sick or injured.  In Season 18 one of the team dances used a dress rehearsal video...the salsa, I think.

Anyway, the “warm up guy” who keeps the crowd pumped up and tells them what to do, was really boring and rather annoying!!!  The ambiance in the theatre was generally loud between performances...music and talking going on....so that in itself is kind’ve tiring.  We had to stand up at certain times and clap/yell as instructed!!!  LOL. Every time they came back from a commercial break, we had to watch the big clocks on the wall and at 20 seconds we had to stand; then at 10 seconds start clapping so when they rolled the cameras the shot always opens to applause by the standing audience.  At least it kept anyone from going to sleep when it got kind’ve hot in there!!!  LOL

Overall I thought there was pretty tough competition in this round.  The sound system didn’t seem to be quite right most of the evening.  We felt that the first VOH soloist’s mic wasn’t spot on but we really loved their performance in spite of it.  Of course, we are all a bit prejudiced!!!  LOL. I will watch the DVR tomorrow and see if they cleaned up any of it before airing it on TV.

I thot the best act of the nite was the last one...the trapeze couple.  They were amazing!!!  I also felt the gal in the pin striped jacket Mel B didn’t like (!!!) was excellent.  I didn’t care for the two chubby Japanese guys....kinda wondered how they got this far!...but they need some bad acts to get thru so they can be eliminated!!!  LOL. I didn’t really care for the cat act, although I know it is incredible to train cats; it reminded me of the Pet Show at Sea World!!!  LOL. Wasn’t that keen on the virtual reality guys (that stuff is over-stimulating!!!) although they were good in their own way....and the other two singers may or may not get thru to the semi-finals (I think the male singer will be eliminated).  I think the dance group will advance.

I was planning to go to the elimination show tomorrow, but hubby may need me to hang around here (story for another time).  Letting SIL know either way in the morning....when I know!  She wants to go at 10AM in hopes of getting better seats (without the wheelchair!!!  LOL. LOL) and I’m also not sure I want to spend the entire day waiting around for a 1 hour show!!!!  LOL.  I have 3 granddaughters’ school dresses to finish....that I’d hoped so send tomorrow.  Not gonna make that deadline, but they won’t know the difference!!

Well, it’s late and I’m starting to feel the need to go to bed!  If you have any questions, be sure to ask.  I have been to a couple of TV show tapings before, but this one was the most exotic and involved....quite interesting to see!  It was also the most upscale production thus far, which is why it was at the Dolby Theatre.  The previous shows were done at a theater in Pasadena...but I didn’t go to either of those.

I do hope that the Voices of Hope get to move to the semi-finals.  They are so uplifting and cute!  Oh—that boy on the front row with the glasses is actually 13!!!  I thought he was much younger but he is a dwarf....and such a cute kid!  He was so cute on stage during the judges’ comments tonite!!!

(((HUGS))) to everyone!

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. We fell in love, but our way. Maks

Re: Season 26 Off and Running....

GOOD MORNING...........

Jet, I LOVED reading about your experiences.  It sounds like you had so much fun, well, other then waiting around for so long and then the nosebleed seats, but it sounds like you two had a great time, not to mention you both sound like a hoot when together. LOL   I thought Voices of Hope was great.  The mics did sound "muffled" and I really couldn't hear the start of the song, but once they "got going", I got chills.  I thought it was their best yet.  LOVED the rainbow and effects.  I hope they make it on to the next round.  They got a nice plug from Simon.  The other act, which I loved was the trapeze.  They really did steal the show and deserved the "pimp" spot of going last.  I really wanted the cats to do well, but they just seemed "off", I guess, it was a bad night for them to perform. LOL  Speaking of which, wow, there were a lot of issues going on.  Some I guess were planned......like scared Rianna's performance, but with everything else with production seeming to have issues, I was not at all sure that the cut to commercial was planned or not.  After looking over the internet, I am still not sure. LOL  SO.....my next question is......what on earth happened in the "magic" act?  There was not much magic to begin with, but the ending was just...well...."what on earth"?   If the whole thing was as seen on TV, all I can say is that I expected more from her.  So much more, considering she won last year on Asia's got Talent.  Oh well, whatever happened, it seem to have rallied her fan base and I am sure she will go through.

Anyway, if you have any more tidbits to the show, I would love to hear them.  I hope your Hubby is okay...and if you do not make it to the live show tonight.....I will try a pop in and post the results.

Take care......HUGS
