Ah, it is. It's the first day of autumn! A time for hot chocolatety mornings, and toasting marshmallow evenings, as best of all, leaping into *leaves*!

If you all hadn't mentioned it in the chat, I wouldn't have been looking for any "hidden" meaning, if you will!! I gathered from the context and how Tom said it that Alan must be a pretty outgoing guy with a lively personality. Tom was clearling joking with him.

I was disappointed that Tonya survived the elimination. I thot she was quite a pathetic character....unfortunately kind've confirming all the baggage from the past! . Was also surprised that Kareem was very stiff and didn't really seem to move well. I expected him to show more athleticism! That being said, I realize his BB career likely took a toll on his body...and dunno how long ago he had cancer (so glad he is still with us, tho). All that being said, I was reminded that sometimes the exceptionally tall BB players (who always play center!) are not the best players in part because of their "giraffe" status!! They just have to stand under the basket and wait for someone like Magic Johnson to pass the ball to them!!! LOL. I do remember, now that I recall watching the Lakers in those days, that was pretty much how Kareem managed to score all those points!! LOL. It was not on agility or ball handling!!! Thinking that he may take an early and gracious bow. Hope he is enjoying his time, tho.

I am glad you wrote this Jet.  I was feeling like I was a bit harsh on Tonya with my comments last night. LOL  I thought she did well in her dance, but she just does not come off well when she talks.

Gabriele, hope you have internet service and have seen the dances.  I would be very interested on your take with Tonya.  I didn't follow skating back then until the "why cry" was heard around the world. LOL  Anyway, did you follow skating back then?  What are your thoughts?

We have our internet back, Luv.  I thought it was a case of the boys with their excavators, this time upgrading the sewers, last time laying a winter creek into concrete pipes.  Seems though that we need new cabling underground from the next around 250 metres.  On our property the cabling cuts through bush land up a steep hill with little/no access for machinery.  It was put down in the mid 80s when there were no trees/bushes in the area.  Not sure how they will resolve it.  Perhaps with a new trench following along our driveway.

I remember the Nancy and Tonya story from back when it happened.   The general sentiment over in the skating fora is that Tonya can't remain in the sin bin forever, though some people want to see her there.  Some guy by the name of Vick or so has been mentioned.  He had illegal dog fighting going and redeemed himself since to have another career as a public persona.  Most believe she is entitled to a second chance after all these years.  She doesn't help her case much with her own conduct/attitude though, I believe.  Personally, I feel kind of neutral towards it.  I don't mind that she gets opportunities by being on the show, but wondering if her personality will get in the way of  seizing on them.

I was so annoyed by Tonya playing the victim. Nancy was the actual victim. Tonya probably didn't know they were going to attack her, but she helped with the cover-up. She still got to go to the Olympics and proceeded to blow it. Nancy worked her tail off to get better and come back. She did her physical therapy at my health club, and I know that it was rough for her. US Figure Skating had to have a special exposition at the Boston Garden so that Nancy could have a chance to perform her programs before the Olympics. She worked so hard, only to lose to a 15 year old who threw in an extra triple toe loop at the end of her program. Nancy was pretty done after all that and was caught making a couple ungracious comments. Her reign as America's sweetheart didn't last long. (Although she did manage to make fun of herself on SNL.) But, anyway, I'm not sure if Tonya has ever taken responsibility for her actions, but she surely didn't the other night. I was glad the audience wasn't mean to her, but I was surprised by how positive the reaction was.

Oh, how interesting that Nancy did her physical training at your health club.  I always felt that she should have won the gold. I liked her program so much more then the actual winner. To me, Nancy was also more graceful then oskana (sp). That extra triple toe loop always upset me....lol. Both girls did kind of see a fall from public grace and had some issues after the Olympics, but they seemed to be able to pick themselves up and move on, where as Tonya, seems to love living in the past, even relishes in it.
