Thanks for asking. He is feeling much better but still has a few pings and pains in his ribcage area. We picked up our still broken van today!!! Sometimes life is kinda trying!!!![]()
. Had to tie the door shut!!! LOL. The body shop where we took it to get fixed, reassessed the damage and it was considered a total loss!!! That didn’t really surprise me...in fact, when they gave the original estimate to repair it (which suddenly almost doubled!)....I was feeling uncharacteristically confident we were going to get things put back together!!! So after hubby had a heated discussion with the claims adjuster, we were told we could take it somewhere else and see if they would do things a little differently. Tomorrow we will take it to a different authorized body shop.
The first one’s estimate was a “total loss”, which is nonsense! We told them if they would pay us $1.00 less than the “total loss” amount, we would take it and pay the difference—-get it repaired on our own. If the first place hadn’t kind’ve jerked us around a little (I understand why but hubby is more resistant!!! LOL—-we kind’ve play the good cop, bad cop routine!) we were going to have them do the work!!
Stay tuned for the next chapter of....”The Adventures of a 2006 Ford Van!!!”
Oh boy...that body shop sounds a bit iffy....glad you are going to go somewhere else. You might also consider calling around salvage yards to see if they have a door from your make and model. Some are in perfect condition and you can just swipe out the old door for the "new door". Your car door was the only thing damaged, right?
Glad your hubby is feeling better. Those rib injuries take long to heal......I have heard.
Hubby didn’t break anything; think he has “slipping rib syndrome” (!!), which is a real thing!! usually from a trauma or injury, affects the lower “false” ribs, sharp pain related to moving, and may or may not clear up on its own. The docs tried to link it to his heart, which was complete rubbish!!!
We looked at the salvage yards right away and there was a perfect driver’s door and left fender on a 2006 Ford in one locally (the body shops buy them from those places also for this type of work). The bigger problem is that the hinge post is bent and the hinges are broken (the door swung all the way open!!!). They did want to replace the interior/inside door panel, which we believe is usable. It does have some minor damage at the top related to the actual door lock that pops up and down (it’s bent) but everything works, including the thing that is supposed to move up and down but which can’t because of the bend. Window works, mirror adjustments work, etc. So we think they have added some stuff that doesn’t need to be replaced. We’re ok with the door panel if the retaining hardware is intact. That alone was over $1,000.00!!! (For a “used” part!)
Whoa 1000.00 for a used part...ugh. It sounds like if all of the electri stuff is working, it should be an easy fix. Humm.
Those ribs and muscles are easy to pull or stretch, hope he feels better soon.
Okay....Vickies act is making it hard for me to think and type...lol

Trying...to write down everything on the acts....so faro have just got part of the phone numbers.
IN REGARD TO VICKYS act.....some parts were funny, some not.....she started out by saying she was bringing back the swimsuit competition and then flung open her robe and she had a swimsuit on......howie said best act she has done......I didn't laugh.....but I usually I am not found of comics anyway....best part of the act was that she said men had hooters to go to, so she was going to open a peckers for women.
