Happy Belated 37th Birthday Fedor...

Ah, it is. It's the first day of autumn! A time for hot chocolatety mornings, and toasting marshmallow evenings, as best of all, leaping into *leaves*!

Re: Get ready for DWTS Season 27

Hi ladies.....as some of you know, my computers hard drive fried, so I am on the lookout for a new desktop computer, but not be techy....I have no idea on what to buy.  Any ideas out there?  I have went to several stores, but am now so confused, I don't know where to turn.  I want lots of space, memory, but most importantly, one that is reliable.  My old ones hard drve lasted about 7 to 8 years...which I guess is good.  The computer would probably still work, it the hard drive was functional...lol.  Anyway, if anyone has an idea on what to look into, I would greatly appreciate it.  I don't mind paying a little more if it is worth it....lol

I bought two laptops over the last two years.  One around July last year for my 13 year old to be used for online gaming, such as Fortnite ect with a relatively good graphics card and memory was the equivalent of USD 1000.  The other one for myself in about October/November was USD 450.  It does everything I wanted it to do, such as streaming, e-mail, word processing and being on here with you.  Both are HP.  Our support worker, who is also a game designer took my son to a couple of the big electronics retail outlets in the next big city.  He felt it was important that he liked the 'feel' of the keyboard and so they tried the display models.  However, once he had decided for his favourite e manufacturer, we had a look at the HP website and mail ordered online.  The equivalent model was around USD 150 cheaper than in retail.

If you let me know what you want to do with it, in terms of programs you want to run, files ect that you want to store, I can get our support worker to tell me what minimum specifications he would recommend, in terms of RAM, graphics and hard drive storage and get back to you.  You could then search for the model online.  Our support worker who designs games professionally, has a top of the range DELL.  So, I guess that would be a good brand to consider as well.  If you want to let me know here or as PM, I will run it by him.  We see him next in 24 hours from this post.

EDIT:
I had the exchange rate wrong.  USD 1000 for my son played almost all the high end games that were out at the time.
You would have probably looked at the screen size when in the shops?  I'm assuming here that you'll go for a laptop.  Or do you want a PC tower?

Re: Get ready for DWTS Season 27

Oh wow!   Just finished watching week 3 of DWTS Australia.  An Australian icon, household name, comedian in her mid 60s got eliminated, receiving 1 point only from one of the judges.  4 points from Sharna.  I won't be thinking of Len as grumpy and rude, that's for sure.......

It was most memorable year.  The drag queen celebrity did a dance starting in drag and finishing as a guy in underwear.  I wished you could see it.  We'd have much to discuss.

The actor Samuel Johnson who holds the Guiness Book of records for uni-cycling (nearly 10,000 miles cycled to raise fund for breast cancer awareness) danced in memory of his sister who died of breast cancer in 2017.  It was a tear jerker...   .https://www.facebook.com/DancingOn10/videos/372525443337858/
