Okay, read a little more on his herina.  Will they fuse the spine or something else?

No it’s not in his discs ….they go in …close the muscle…put a mesh over it then close him up….just has to be a full incision because of the size and location of the hernia

Is it pretty big?  Can you see or feel it from the outside?  I know that some "hernia bulges" can be seen, others need a sonagram or something to see.

Yeah you can see it….even D took one look at it and said “I don’t think that’s supposed to look like that” and that was coming from a kid…lol

Not his spine but close to the nerves that go from your spine around toward your front …..we thought it was just a pulled muscle at first

Oh.......that is good.  I was trying to google but kind of skimmed read. LOL  So.....um, does it go from his back to his around to his side?  I mean the pain?

Yeah ….hoping it’s not too painful of a recovery for him

Does he sleep on his back?  I mean, will he have to sleep "in a different way" while he heals?

That is so interesting about the pain from the back to the sides.  I had to have a sonagram to see if I had a hernia, but they didn't see anything, still when I lift something, I get pain in my back and side. HUMM...........did he lift something heavy, could it be job related?  If so, does workers comp. help with payments?

OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That must have been a bit unnerving.  It also must be pretty large.  Has he had it for awhile or did it come on him all of a sudden?

That is good.  It is amazing how fast (and how much) things cost.  Last time I talked to CEK (about two weeks ago), she said her bills were coming in and she was so shocked and surprised how much everything was.....like a 1.00 or 2.00 for ONE aspirin.

Back in November after hurricane season he had pain there but we thought it was just from working so much on deployment….it got better …but then started hurting again recently and we saw the bulge but thought it was a muscle knot ….but after a Cat scan found out it was the hernia

Oh wow, so he has had it for awhile.  I would have thought the same thing as you all did.  A sore muscle. Humm, maybe it is a good thing that it started to bulge so you could see that it was "more important" and should get looked at.  Glad that it is something that can be fixed and not "too serious"......still, surgery is serious.......but I think you get what I am saying. lol
