My Heart breaks for Chock and Bates, but Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron did put down one beautiful dance/skate. Glad I wasn't a judge........
I had a feeling it would go down this way, unfortunately. But Chock and Bates can be proud of all they've accomplished. I expect we'll get an announcement that they will be retiring after Olympics unless they decide to compete at Worlds. Happy that Piper and Paul won the Bronze.
I kind of had the same feeling on the results. My family who LOVED Chock/Bates routine, also said that the French should win after watching their routine. That dance was beautiful, inspite of the "behind the scenes "personal stuff".
I hope that after a few weeks (it has to take some time), Chock and Bates become proud and happy of what they have accomplished, including that silver. I also agree that they will probably retire............and hopefully, make some babies. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree, if they want to start a family, now is the time...Maddie is 33 and Evan is 36.

The last line in the article couldn't have said it better.......
I am heartbroken for the sport and especially for Chock/Bates.
I sure hope that they decide to have children, and do not have any fertility issues that seem to have plagued a lot of skaters. I still wonder if that is why Meryl hasn't had any.

I saw an interesting video on X showing many of the ice dancers hugging and consoling a tearful Madison while Guillame and his partner were on the ice taking their victory lap. Evan was standing in the back looking very unhappy. Actually nobody looked particularly happy. And some of the coaches, who coach both Maddy/Evan and the French team, were standing around looking a bit uncomfortable. 👀
