It's so interesting that a few years back, Daisuke was asked who his favorite skaters were and he mentioned Meryl and Charlie, but mostly Meryl. He went on to say he would like to be her partner and when asked if he meant her life partner, he said he would be much too nervous for that so it would be better for him to be her partner on the ice instead. Too cute! I bet he never imagined he would later become her partner on the dance floor!
Don't you know he is happy here! If they take that show to Vegas, I'm sure he'll want to continue with it.

Oh I hope he can. The show wouldn't be the same without him, and I know Cheryl and the rest of the cast would feel that way too. They all really bonded to each other through this experience. I still see them posting comments to each other on Instagram about how much they miss everyone and the show.

What's really interesting to me is that pink used to be the color for boys; it was considered to be more masculine than blue. The switchover was finally complete by the end of WWII, helped, no doubt, by Mamie Eisenhower's love of pink. Just Google something about it and you will get a long explanation.

I've heard of 'Rowena' for a girl, but not Rowan. My eldest son is a 'Ronan' as his middle name and his friend is 'Rohan', which he pronounces similar to 'Rowan'. Then I have a sister in law, also in her 50s, whose given name is 'Gregg'. She surely would have a thing or two to say on the topic of living with a boys' name..... It's more common now, though. Each to their own.

It's so much fun to study names!

LOTF: translation from Nobu part 20 for the DaiMeryl fans! She sent me this video of a round table discussion with skaters which included Daisuke, Mao Asada, Akiko Suzuki and Nobunari Oda. I think this was before LOTF even went into rehearsals. Daisuke talked about LOTF at the start of the video

Here’s what she said:

“In this talk show, Stars on Talk 2016, Daisuke talked about LOTF and said he was really looking forward to dancing with her (meaning Meryl). What interesting is that all of them, Nobu, Akiko and Mao, they all knew Daisuke likes Meryl and Nobu actually said Meryl-sama. Meryl is very special for him you can see.”

I asked her if they were teasing him in the video. And here is what she said:

“A sort of. Nobu said “Dai-chan’s favorite Meryl-sama” and Akiko said “your dream came true!” and “good for you” and Mao said that they would love to see the show from the front row and Nobu added that with other skaters, such as Takahiko Kozuka, and coaches. Daisuke actually said that dancing with Meryl was what he was looking forward to even though he was not sure about the rest of the show. I just love these Japanese skaters.“

Maybe it's the Airweave store? I think they have one in Manhattan.
