So gabriele is correct.
Yah...well...my grandson called and said "we're in the emergency room. Dad's in a lot of pain. He thinks some kind of obstruction maybe."
My husband went up to the hospital right away so kid would have some company if dad needed surgery or something. With instructions to keep me informed as I had pie in oven. They did a cat scan and told him he has a 6 mm kidney stone trying to pass. They offered pain pills. He declined. So everyone went home after a couple of hours.
Son told me dr. said at 8 mm they do the lithotripsy. So he is just toughing it out. I reminded him that when my brother was experiencing same, a golfing doctor friend told him to stand up on the toilet seat and jump down landing - bang - hard on both feet!!
All's well that ends well. Things are fine. And far better than some conditions it could have been.Oh no!!!!! How is he doing?
He went to work yesterday...texted me "this is loads of fun / can't wait to have another one"
I texted him back. "eeek! from your lips to God's ears"
Him: I'm pretty sure He recognizes sarcasm when he hears it.
Has the kidney stone passed, View? Hope he's feeling better.

Ooops, I didn't realise I have been holding up the works.
Here goes:-
1) My Grandfather had red hair and only one leg.
2) For a while my favourite toy was a pear that could talk.
3) As a child, I spent some summer holidays behind the iron curtain.
These again are really good. Because 1 and 3 are taken, I will go for 2. I personally think that 2 is true because who would think to make up a talking pear!

Ding, ding, ding. You got it KOS, but then again not really.....
1) and 2) are correct. My Grandfather was drafted into Hitler's ill-fated Russia invasion and froze his toes off. Later type 2 diabetes and alcoholism added to it and he lost his leg above the knee. And I did spend some holidays with my paternal Grandmother in Eastern Germany. We were allowed to visit them, but they could only visit us once they had reached retirement age and thus were no longer 'productive', but a cost to society through pensions. So the state did not care, if old people defected to the West.
I actually had a pet pear as a child, but of course it could not talk. I don't consider that as too weird. The world has since seen the invention of Mr. Potatoe Head and it's distribution throughout toy boxes around the world. I feel 100% vindicated. Perhaps next time I have a similar idea, I should pursue it and every child might have gotten to know Mrs. Pearshape instead of Mr. Potatoe Head.

I am so sorry. I have held up this game for a day because I didn't pay close attention. #2 was the lie, a partial lie. we are all pulling a "view" on each other.
Here are my two truths and a lie.
1. Richard Jenkins, movie and TV star, graduated from DeKalb High School the year that I began to teach at DHS.
2. My two older children had lunch with Madeleine L'Engle (famed for the book, "A Wrinkle in Time") their first Sunday in New York City.
3. Wes Craven ("Nightmare on Elm Street" etc.) a classmate of mine in college, attended our 50th reunion.

Sorry View, #2 is not a lie. My two older children showed up at All Angels church their first Sunday in NYC. When visitors were asked to introduce themselves, they did; and a voice, belonging to Madeleine and coming from behind them, said: "I just got back in town and found a letter from your mom telling me that you two would be coming to NYC to attend school and work." After the service they met, and she said, "Come to lunch." and they did. Madeleine was one of the first women to be asked to deliver the graduation address at Wheaton College. I actually took a personal leave day from teaching to go hear her. She had become good friends with my husband's and my favorite literature prof, Clyde Kilby, the CS Lewis scholar. Later, she delivered a series of lectures on creativity and religious belief. These lectures became, "Walking on Water". While I also attended these lectures with my baby son, I never met her personally. But she loved Clyde and Martha Kilby and would make breakfast for them when she was on campus. And she donated many of her original manuscripts to Wheaton. So when I wrote to her, I wrote to her as a friend of Clyde Kilby's. So they got a great welcome to NYC.

Actually, I had number 3) here before. But then I seem to remember that you shared quite some time ago that Wes Craven came to your reunion. So, unless my memory deserted me completely, the lie is number 1) (despite the fact that Richard Jenkins has actually been at DeKalb), but either the year or your teaching job is out. It's getting very 'view'-ish. I'm loving it!!

I have tried four times to post on the thread. Even though it shows on my post when I hit "submit" the post is missing. So here is my message.
Gabriele, excellent memory about Wes Craven and our 50th reunion. #1 is the lie. Richard Jenkins graduated from Dekalb High School four years before I came to teach at DHS. Although my children and I, sometimes separately and other times together, have often given concerts at Oak Crest Retirement Center and Richard Jenkins parents lived there, our paths never crossed. Or if they did, we didn't know it. And yes this is getting very "view-ish", and I too love it.

😂 View has established quite a reputation! Gabriele's turn again!
