Hi guys   I have a few quiet minutes so wanted to update  She is doing well....still in the hospital but doing better.....she is getting closer to going home so hopefully soon.....when she does we will be going to my cousin's for awhile because we need to be close to the hospital.

So I get here and in the words of Alexa...LOL...."HOLY WOW"!!!!!!....LOL....MAKS AND EMMA ARE BACK!!!!!YAY!!!! AND JENNA'S A PRO!!!!!! OMG!!

So happy for them....I am excited to see Maks dance again but I must admit to me I will miss seeing Meryl as his partner....but I think he brings a dynamic to the show that it just needs to me

I saw some questions about the game.....my suggestion would be this.....we leave it as it is for now because it works for us and we kind of have the routine down.....the couple weeks Luv can't be here to do it we use as "bye weeks"....and we just watch the show for fun and don't count points.....to handle the issue of some sisters missing weeks and making it fair.....we introduce the "Mirror Ball Pass"......meaning that each sister gets a pass for two weeks to be used on the weeks of that sisters choice.....for those weeks the sister using their pass will get all points available those 2 weeks.......this way it can be used if someone needs to go on vaca or even if a sister isn't going to miss any time watching she can still use it and everyone gets at least 2 weeks of points....when a sister wants to use her pass she just pm's Luv to let her know so she can mark it down on the chart...what do you guys think????  would this work???? without being 2 complicated????

Cek I hope all goes well with your knee

and Vmm....glad the first day of school went well for everyone

Gabriele....how is the school search going for your little guy????

Physical therapy just got here to work with her so I gotta run.....talk to you all soon (((hugs))

Thanks for the update; prayers still going out for a complete recovery.  What does Niecy think about Maks' return?

Look at it this way view....  it might get more sisters interested in the new season.  Tango where are you??????
It gives us tons of 'stuff' to talk about during the seasons.  Maks has played the fauxmance angle quite a bit, including Erin and the rolling-in-a-bed number.  Now, as expectant father, what will he come up with?  View, pack the jam away and get the popcorn machine out.  I'm ready to see this!!!

That made me LOL, Gabriele....so right!!!😃😃😂

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. I sent my baby off on the bus for first grade this morning. Normally my oldest will be on it with her, but she doesn't start until Monday. She cheered when the bus arrived. My 8th grader was not as enthusiastic, and was not thrilled that I made her take pictures. Off to do some driving practice and shopping with my oldest.

Hope your daughter had a good first day of "first grade"  and I hope you made it through the driving practice too...

Yes, my baby had a good day, and we had a good drive and shopping trip. Even my 8th grader seemed to have a pretty good day.

That is all very good news, vmmm!!  Hope they all have a great school year full of new and exciting adventures!!!

How did things go today CEK?

Hey Luv...Thanks for asking...

I am sorry that I didn't put my update on yesterday, and I was going to do it when I got on for a minute in the afternoon but the phone was ringing and the the dog was wanting to go out so I just got off cause I couldn't concentrate....

I absolutely loved the orthopedic doctor yesterday he was very nice, gentle and had a wonderful bedside manor answering all my questions...and he is NOT surgery "pushy"...

The only think that is going to completely take care of the problems in my knee is to do a full replacement but he said that I didn't have to do it until I knew that I was ready to have it done and he said that I would know when that time was.  I got a cortisone shot in it and it feels a bit better in some area but not to much in the other...I can live with that for now...I do have a high pain tolerance which he said could be good and bad at the same time.  Good because I can take the pain but bad because I actually didn't know that my knee was in the shape it was in...he said most people with a knee like mine would be in terrible unbearable pain not even able to walk, so I guess I am lucky in that area...

So I am going to wait it out and see how it goes.  I know it is not good to wait until things get so bad that the repair is much more than it could have been, but right not is not the time...

Hi, CEK....glad you like the doctor and that you got sound advice.

Have a friend who has similar problems.  Has already had one knee replacement and now it is the hip on the same side---but that began as very bad back spasms.  The pain meds make her hallucinate (!)--even when cut in half--so she has been pretty much laid up in bed for 3-4 weeks at a time twice since maybe April?  She is getting around now but only after seeing the orthopedist (who did the knee replacement).  He told her the cortisone shot in the hip would tell them if it was the hip or the spine.  If it's the hip, he said, the cortisone will make her feel like she can get up and move around, etc.  If the shot didn't help at all, they would know it was spine and he would send her to a spine specialist.

So the shot has worked for the past month (he said it might work for a week or 6 mos...or not at all!), she is doing noticeably better, has returned to work and other normal activities slowly.  She starts physical therapy on Monday to see if that helps (she has alot of arthritis in her hips and some in her spine, so....) but the likelihood of a hip replacement is definitely on the table.  So I would say that both diagnoses are quite similar.  Just be sure to do the replacement before you fall and break a bone.  Our quilt teacher has broken her legs and/or ankles about 4 times in 5 years because she needs one or both knees replaced and hasn't done either!!!  NOT good!!!

Stay well and keep moving!

Lol, gabriele...you make some good points.  This season will have a little "something" to it that's been missing, that is for sure. I had just thought he left on a high, and at the perfect time, and now - like Derek - I guess you never say never coming back to the show.

And I am no one to be passing judgement.  The one and only Season I watched before 18 was Season 1.  Maks was not a part of that.  I was rooting for John O'Hurly back then - and he did not win.  Real Life intervened and I didn't give much thought to DWTS until Meryl and Charlie took part in it. So I have never watched a full season with Maks.

I'll miss Tony.  And won't it be fun for Jenna to actually do choreography for her own benefit.  So far I think she has helped Val, assisted Mandy, and not had her chance to shine.

I'm ready for the popcorn too....and definitely up for a few "Maksisms" to liven things up!!!  I agree he left at the right time, but I have always tried to live by the "never say never because never is a very long time" principle myself...so I cringe whenever I hear someone say they would never do something!!!  Easy to say at the moment, but not so easy to achieve in the scheme of life.

I was--and still am--a John O'Hurley fan but I continued to watch and discovered Maks when he arrived!!  I have a certain appreciation for those who live and speak out of the box (married to one of those!!), so, although I sometimes cringe at Maks and his "isms", I find the humor and like the "tell it like it is" without apology aspect.

I actually have two good women friends who had knee replacements.  Both of them had both of them (knees) replaced.  One actually had both done AT THE SAME TIME!

They function so well now and without pain.  One told me that the replacement should last 20 years or more.

Wishing you well, CEK.  No need to rush in to these things.  Oh.  The one friend, now that I think back, had gastric stapling or some such weight loss procedure.  She lost about 100 lbs. before she had the knee surgery as the excess weight was such a factor in the condition for her.  Not so true of the other gal.  But had worked as a nurse and nursing instructor - on her feet - for decades, and that may have contributed.

My SIL had both knees done at the same time (insides only)--now wishes she had had full replacements because after about 5 years of being fine, they are bothering her sometimes now.

Morning View...I have know a couple people that have had them several years ago and did well ...I am going to wait to see what happens and I too need to loose this 20 pounds because I know that puts stress on my knees...

Here's one: my MIL had both her knees replaced in the early 1990's at UCLA.  It was still fairly new surgery.  She went back 25 years later (when she was in her mid-80s, I want to say) to have them checked and was told they were both perfect!!!  She later had a hip replacement but she had a bunch of degenerative arthritis throughout her body.  Died 2 mos. before she was 92 in 2009.  Still miss her!
