Re: SEASON 24 is knocking at our door...

Come Wednesday, we will have to get busy with some ship names.  There will surely be a couple of "singles" matched up with "availables" so we can ship.

Same here with the encyclopedias.

In fact, when I was very young, because there were 3 older kids in the family, the first set of books of that type I can remember reading and finding information in was called The Book of Knowledge.  And the 2nd set we had was Encyclopedia Americana.

And yes, we had an oak bookcase just like this:

Except it was blond oak.  And it seems to me even in to the early years of my marriage in the late 60's there were salesmen who came around ...   the sets were ridiculously expensive.  But you could pay for them 'on time'.  Vacuum cleaners were still sold like that too.  When I was a little girl, the Fuller Brush Man called door to door.  And Watkins Products.  And Stanley Products.

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. I remember the Fuller Brush Man too, View.  They sold a hair brush that was just great!  Wish I could get one that I liked as well now.

We got a "free" wood bookcase for our Britannicas too!  It's still here with the books lined up in it!!  Hubby and I bought the encyclopedias early in our marriage....from a door-to-door salesman, as I recall!!  LOL. Haven't thought about traveling salesmen in a very long time!!!

Re: SEASON 24 is knocking at our door...

It has been a 3-ring circus around here for the past few days.  Daughter and the 3 girls arrived Friday afternoon.  Daughter going to a school leadership conference in San Diego that begins on Tuesday evening.  Kids staying with us during that time so I will be busy monitoring homework progress with the older two and "building things" with the little one!!  The eldest is in 4th grade so they study California history, which includes the 21 missions established primarily by Fr. Junipero Serra in the 18th and early 19th century.  So we will make a trip to the San Juan Capistrano Mission sometime this week.  It is a beautiful place....and only about 40 min. down the road in Orange County.

Today we had my SIL, niece and her family (which includes girls aged 9 and 6) over for a PJ's & Pancakes Brunch.  There were 12 of us to eat sausage, bacon, cinnamon roll pull-aparts, pancakes, fruit, and eggs.  Then the 5 girls did a craft that I picked up at Target yesterday (on clearance!).  It was actually pretty cute!!  They all had a great time making their own little "haute doggy".

It had rained lightly during the nite so the temp was fairly cool (upper 50's) but we caught enough of a break in the clouds and drips around 1 p.m. to make a run to the Cinderella Park for an hour+ (until it began to rain again). None of these children had been to this park but they were duly impressed with the fun play equipment there which they really enjoyed!

This Friday is my turn to spend the day with the grandchildren in SD so we will have a slumber party down there...and perhaps a trip to the SD Zoo.  We'll wantto do something outdoorsy, I'm pretty sure.

Here is a pic of the bobblehead "puppies" all dressed up and on their little beds!!  Not bad for a total investment of $15.00!!  Kept 5 girls busy for at least an hour!!

Re: SEASON 24 is knocking at our door...

Well, I am off to try to make some headway on my quilt binding.  Hubby and I are enjoying a short respite from the commotion while daughter and the kids are having pizza at the other grandma's this evening!

Sweet dreams, all......  Hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable Sunday.  We did!
