CEK....I, too, have had ants in the kitchen this year. Not a lot, for a while I may have seen 3 or 4 per day and killed them.
I looked on line for perhaps a home remedy type thing...I also called an exterminator to get some information. There is a man on youtube who is know for his "make your own" insecticides and fertilizers etc. But even he stated "there is no home made solution that works for ants...I've tried the borax" And so his recommendation was the 3rd - for Terro Ant Killer for Inside Use.
Worked like a charm over a period of about 5 days. "Timed" so that they take it back to the community of ants. Good Luck.
They were mostly in the laundry room in the clothes basket especially on one of the dish towels and around the bottom of the kitchen cabinets...funny thing is my sugar bowl was not closed tight and not one was in there or anywhere near it.
I have washed everthing down with bleach water or vinegar and water and caulked up a couple holes around the door. so I will do some natural things because of all the pets we have here and hubby and daughter with asthma and me with my lung issues I can't afford to use any chemicals.
But with all the rain and it is getting ready to storm here now cause I can here the thunder in the distance I guess it has washed them out....
