Re: Summer, the Season between the Seasons

I came home early.  April, so relieved that you got through the most critical part.  One breath at the time, my friend.  (((hugs)))

Re: Summer, the Season between the Seasons

For April, Niecey, and Our Sisterhood:

"Bear you one another's burdens."  In some deeply profound way, to bear one another's burdens matters even when miles and miles separate us.   One does not have to be a Christian to know that this is true.

When reviews came out for "The Return of the King" there were movie critics who confessed that they were not prepared for how deeply they were affected by Sam bearing Frodo's burden as he carried Frodo up Mount Doom.  At the time I was teaching the most jaded teens I had ever taught, sophomores in a vocational school.   I was stunned when these fifteen year old boys did not talk about the heroics, the battle scenes, the
warrior king, etc.  What they wanted was to have friendship like the friendship between Frodo and Sam. They wanted to be burden bearers,; they wanted friends who would be burden bearers for others.  What our sisterhood has become and continues to becoming is wonderful and amazing in that April was courageous to reached out and we have banded together around her and niecey.  And though I rarely post, I do check in on a daily basis, and this is what I have noticed.  The burden sharing and burden bearing also happens with other sisters.

Thank you for this post, KOS.  While you may not post often, when you do, the posts are always thoughtful and profound.

Your example of Sam bearing Frodo's burden and the need we as human beings have to seek and develop deep and meaningful friendships is what I would label an essential part of the human condition.  As Christ has borne our burdens, we must allow ourselves to become vulnerable in order for us to become burden bearers or burden sharers for others....and vice versa.  There is so much mutual faith and trust required to develop burden bearing friendships.

In our increasingly secular and faithless society, we seem to lose sight of the fact that human beings need a belief in something larger than ourselves.  We are not strong enough to overcome life's trials on our own.  Too many of us seem to give up seeking the meaning of life and finding it through trust and faith in others...through sharing and caring.  Burden bearing and burden sharing relationships not only add meaning to life, they are essential to life and in overcoming adversity.

Sam and Frodo illustrate perfectly the words of Christ,  "This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:12-13

To Niecey and April....we are here for you and with you, hopefully helping ease your burden ever so slightly.  We love you and continue to pray for both of you and your entire family.❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

Good night and, in the words of Tiny Tim, "God bless us every one."

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Re: Summer, the Season between the Seasons

Hi guys (((((hugs)))))  thank you sooooooo much for the hand holding and prayers....they have just gotten her settled in a new room in the cardiac ICU......things have settled down some now and she is resting comfortably......what happend is when they got the results from the MRI it showed a large fluid effusion (build up of fluid) in the sac around her  heart....the bigger problem was that is was on the back side of her heart and surrounding the main artery into her heart cutting off blood flow and causing her blood pressure to drop.....they couldn't go in and just put a simple drain in because of where it was located so they had to open a window into her chest and cut a small window into the pericardium to allow it to drain quickly.....they actually called me in the hall and said "the fluid is building at a rate that if we don't do this now by tomorrow or the next day it will cut the blood flow off completely and cause a heart attack which she won't survive....this is the only way to save her life, but when the fluid drains out and the blood rushes back in it could cause an attack then as well".....I was never so scared in my life as when I signed that paper and in only about 30 minutes we were being rushed down the hall to the O.R, vent and all with a team of 8 ICU personnel to make sure there were no problems on the way.....but God is good and she handled it amazingly well.......and made the transfer to the new room smoothly....you are all so amazing that even when I didn't have time to fully explain....you all heard a sisters cry for help and came running with the love and prayers and hand holding .....it means more to me than I can ever express....I will update you all more tomorrow  (((((group hugs)))))

Thanks for the update, April!  I've been waiting for it eagerly.  You are amazing....   finding the energy to write it up after such a day.  Mummabear, I'm thinking that your strength carries both you and Niecey through on such a day. Niecey will have to write that book the she has been thinking about.  Way too much she has been through already though.....    Hope she can be comfortable for the moment and gather a little strength again.  Keep us posted when you can, Love.   xox

Re: Summer, the Season between the Seasons

Oh my goodness, April. Now I know why I couldn't sleep last night. Something told me to check the message board today. Sending you hugs and prayers. I'm so glad she made it through the surgery well. I'll pray for healing for Niecey and for strength for you.
