This is what Gabriele had to say(around 4 am this morning, our time) about some people feeling that Maks was not good enough for Meryl.

"Loved so much of what I read today.  Last thing I saw at the abc board last night was Val's categoric 'no' to the relationshp question.  So glad you found the video and it comes across so differently.

Since Sochi, and before I arrived at the abc dwts thread, I had been through the  goldenskate thread.  There was a strong sentiment that Maks isn't good enough for Meryl.  She should find a doctor or similar as Maks has too much 'mileage' (not my words) and Meryl can and should do 'better'.  That's what I read between the lines of most of the new posters on abc now.  They have cultivated the princess myth for so long and can't reconcile with the new Meryl image.

I saw the beginning of a certain person posting back then too .....  stood out as so pompous and self-absorbed that I remember the Id.  I am not sure I recognise anyone atm as a clone though.  Then again, I wouldn't recognise any subtleties in people's language which distinguish them from others as its not my first language.

Thanks so much for having me here - certainly not a nice thought to be stuck over at the abc thread atm. Truly valiant effort by view to hold out there."

Thanks for that reminder, KOS. I do think I may have read something similar--perhaps by a troll--earlier as well. Maybe a reference to the golden skate thread but I did read Gabriele's overnite post with interest--and it is likely more credible!!

Seem to do my best "thinking" while driving around--kinda like having your most in-depth conversations with your kids in the car.

What came to mind in reference to both the post from Meryl and things she and Maks have said is that she must be "processing" what just happened to her. How could she not be conflicted by having been popped in the face, figuratively speaking, by Maks---by who he is, how he rolls, what he says, his profundity which is not always eloquent yet is always honest, forthright and amazingly in-depth, even when somewhat inarticulate. Just Maks being Maks.

She, OTOH, has been in the same cloistered life for 27 years--inside the bubble. In a way, I think DWTS was her break-out moment from that protective environment that has molded who she is and how she operates. Much more "programmed" than Maks, always living in the same general location, not having been away to college, always focused on a goal--soft and politically correct--never really having her own voice--never having the opportunity to get to experience her emotional side and how liberating yet strange that must have felt. I assume that, like Fed-ex, her other relationships with men have likely been from the same very closed group--from those that she was expected to associate with and maybe find her married life with. It must be extremely intimidating and confusing to try to sort out all the feelings, figure out what is real, and what to do with all of it--and then deal with the family expectations which are many, undoubtedly high, and much more comfortable! I am sure she's never had to face this sort of thing before with someone who is very seriously in love with her, someone with "a past"....all brought to the surface by a "moment in time" that was just supposed to be "fun" for 3 mos., then back into the skating/college bubble in MI and move on as expected--as if nothing much had changed! NOT!!!! Life has changed dramatically---you can't unring the bell!!

I guess this is a very long expose' to say that my hope is that snippets such as "Rule #110 of a Lady" are signs she is finding her way to being who SHE is, love who SHE loves, and being 100% OK with where it takes her. Take the risk and know that love will conquer all! Everyone else will learn to accept the changes and, if they love you, they will perhaps give their opinion, but they will also support you.

That is where I think Meryl is right now....figuring it all out with Maks helping her continue to find her voice as she did at the San Jose airport!! Go for it, girl!

KOS, you are full of wisdom and understanding, and I love that.

Ditto with fs universe btw for scrutiny of Maks' credentials as 'marriage material'.  But whatever the discussions, it doesn't seem to deteriorate in the skating circles to the point of name calling and put downs of other posters, like what you see in in abc dwts thread.  Maybe these forums are better moderated.  Not sure. I haven't been there long enough to get the feel.

This is David Wenham, an Australian (of course.... ) actor.  In your neck of the woods maybe best known as 'Faramir' in Lord of the Rings.
