Glad you've chosen the safest option, April. Hope your hubby is safe, too in the midst of it. Since there isn't anything to be done about the weather, perhaps you can enjoy the unplanned get together with relatives. Please let us know when it has blown over and you're safely back home. xox
My brother who lives in Southern VA not too far from where CEK lives gets very excited when they have a hurricane! As a retired Navy cook, he is thrilled by the power outage that lets him fire up his generator that powers the entire house (!), bring the BBQ grill into the garage to cook burgers, and start cooking for the masses....just like he did while he was in Guam or Bermuda where the galley was the shelter and the mess staff cooked for the families and the troops!! It makes me laugh when he calls me up to gleefully tell me that he's just lost power!!! LOL. I think the strongest hurricane they've had in VA BCH was about Cat 3....so nothing like what Irma is. For my brother, a hurricane party is always in order until the rain and wind stop and all the neighbors get out to help clean up afterwards. Last hurricane (forgot the name), he was without power for a week.
Thoughts and prayers for all in Florida because everyone will likely be affected.

I was into watching Lakers basketball when Derek Fisher was playing on the team and I really liked him as a player and as a person....so this guy may be one to watch!! He was a smart player and very steady and consistent.

As they say, when you're handed lemons, make lemonade. He's got that worked out.

April, I am so glad that you were able to check in. I saw on GMA that Jax was getting hit hard with wind and rain, with water rescues taking place. Happy to hear that you and those family members 'bunkered down" at your cousins are safe. Will continue to pray for your other family members, especially your hubby as he now begins to "work the hurricane and its aftermath". Very glad to hear that your house is in pretty good shape.
HUGS!!!
