Gabriele......a person was telling me about kangaroo meat....is that popular over there....also, that Aussies have better eyesight then the rest of the world because od your diet.....true?

I have no idea about the eyesight...  *lol*

kangaroo meat is in every supermarket and butcher shop.  It was quite unusual when I came here 25 years ago, but now it's right between the chicken and beef, in steaks, mince, kebab, ready-prepared roasts.  Any which way the other meats are offered.  We love it!!!  It is very lean and has a slight 'gamey' tast, also very dark red.  It isn't farmed, just shot in the wild, which means you don't get all the nasties that farmed meat can contain, like growth hormones, antibiotics ect.

Oh that is interesting.....do you guys get Ostrich meat too????

I haven't seen that yet.  But we get its Australian little cousin, the Emu, which is farmed.  But I haven't tried it yet.  And it isn't in the supermarkets as a stable.

Humm.....I think I would like it then too.

the color and gameyness sounds a bit like venison ....is it similar to that Gabriele

It's probably the closest to venison among the things I have tried.  But not as strong in flavour as venison.  Bit more 'neutral' and works really well without marinating (opposed to venison?).
