On the Julianne Hough topic...  I hadn't planned to follow season 19 and that made it a bit clearer that I won't.  Even with her compliment for Meryl, it didn't read to me as genuine and coming from the heart.  More like setting her up for tall poppy syndrome in the viewer's eyes.
Might look at Artem as a pro though, just curious on how he would be.  Not sure why Alison Holker is there, she is a Mum in a relationship, isn't she?  Maybe it will be a good pairing with an older star who won't do the romance angle.  Do you think they have the stars lined up first and then hire the pro's according the stars wishes and to match personalities?

Well, supposedly, no one knows who the partner will be, but we know that Derek knew that he would get Amy because he was seriously thinking of not dancing season 18 until he found out she would be on. I think he wanted the challenge  as a  "feather in his cap" in the choreography world. I heard him say this on Access Hollywood -- just the part about not coming back until he heard Amy would be on. So, I don't know why he is coming back for Season 19 unless there will be another challenge for him that we don't yet know about.

I will probably drive you crazy with song postings.  Here is the first English version of "If You Go Away".   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKUHc_knYBE

Dunno how that works, Gabriele. I heard that Meryl had requested being paired with Derek--probably because she knew him from the choreography he did with her and Charlie. I didn't know celebs could request a partner...but don't know much anyway!

I think Julianne is tainted by Hollywood now. Just a gut feeling I have. But I know she had a difficult childhood so she must have issues. So many "stars" do--and can't find stable relationships. I feel kind've sorry for her but otoh you can be whoever you want to be If you decide to be that. She no longer floats my boat at all so I may not watch either.

This was on our message board a while back: (maybe tumblr)
1. Mark was cranky because he didn't get Meryl.
2. He was crankier because he got Candace.
3. He was crankiest of all because Candace kept staying on!

Do you remember an interview Maks gave (with Meryl by his side), saying that if you get voted off, there is relief if you have a partner who's not that good. Relief, because now you don't have to keep working with them. (That would explain #3 above.)

yeah i remember that interview...it was near the end of the season i think

Haha!  I remember Mark saying in the costume discussions that Candace is worse than Bristol Palin. But then he crosses himself.  That makes it look like he is the one who could cope with her the best. *Lol  (no offence intended.....)

also...you know how every season they like to put disney stars on there...well keep an eye out for Ross Lynch, he's from the show "Austin and Ally" and the band R5....found out from my daughter today he is also Derek and Juliannes cousin

Well, let's just keep it all in the family!

Usually I am on my own by now, with my shadow, the unknown guest.  What is the time where you are?  Uh, I forgot, it is a long weekend for you all.  That explains it!

Remember there has been word that Sean Avery insisted to be paired with Karin which then lead to a bit of a domino effect, changing other planned pairings.  Not sure how reliable this info was at the time. Could be that if they want a star badly enough, he/she will be accommodated.

I hadn't heard that about Sean. Well, it didn't do him much good, did it?
