So after 8 days of complete CRAZINESS....19 people sleeping in our house for 4 nites!!!....providing breakfast each morning (bagels, yogurt, sweet rolls, juices, coffee, etc.--so no cooking), 1 lunch, and "the last supper" (tacos) Thursday nite for 6 adults, 3 visiting granddaughters (daughter was a chaperon), 10 high school students (all females except for one lone sophomore boy!), and 2 looong days in Disneyland, the "vacancy" sign is back up!!!!! LOL. The group came down from the HS where our daughter teaches in Northern CA for a student leadership conference in Ontario (east of us about 50 miles). They were at the conference from Saturday until noon on Monday when they each staked a claim for their sleeping bags in our living room!! We have 4 spare bedrooms with beds in 3 so 2 teachers shared the one with the trundle bed and the lead teacher had her own room. Daughter and the kids slept in the 3rd upstairs bedroom with a queen futon and the most floor space. The high schoolers were really great! All very respectful, self-sufficient (of course!), appreciative, etc. Was a little worried about how they would all sleep, but the boy, who was a jewel (hung out in the kitchen with me several times--asked what he could help with, etc.), announced he was sleeping on the couch because "I'm not going to cuddle with the girls!". You have to admire a young man...15 probably....who has the confidence to go on a week long trip with a bunch of girls!!! He has a 17 year old sister and a 1-1/2 year old sister....so maybe it was comfortable for him. The kids all seemed to get along quite well but I'm sure they were happy to get home to their own beds!!

Daughter and the kids are driving home tomorrow....in the Escalade....PACKED to the gunwales!!! LOL. I call them the Beverly Hillbillies because I envision them driving down the highway with the hobo stick hanging out the back window because they ALWAYS overpack!!!!! This time, they had to make space for trash bags containing sleeping bags and pillows for 10 HS students PLUS all their own stuff....oh, and the MIL who is going home with them for a couple weeks!!!!!!! LOL. Good thing the vehicle has side mirrors because there is zero visibility out the back!!

Earlier this afternoon daughter and kids went to her MIL's (20 miles away) to spend the nite so they can leave from there in the morning. Traffic should be good on Sunday. MIL had been staying for 5-6 weeks but over Thanksgiving she talked to me about how it was just too long for everyone, she thought. She knew it was hard on everyone...and she was bored. I suggested maybe she wanted to shorten her stays!! Told her she could create the boundary that suited her....so I'm hopeful that made sense to her. I was surprised she didn't go up the last time the kids were here (in Feb.)....and this time is only staying 3 weeks so she can be back for something she has planned. We never visit our kids for more than a week (except when daughter had surgery and needed help). My grandmother always said a week was plenty because you don't want to wear out your welcome!! I think I may have quoted that as well in our conversation!!! 😋.

I am so looking forward to getting back on a couple lingering projects now that my "hostess with the mostess" is finished!!!!! YEA!!!

It was really fun...and Disneyland was great with the kids! Had not been there in several years, so timing was good. Now just to get to bed a little earlier because I always wake up when the sun comes up!!! LOL.

Hope everyone is doing well. It doesn't look like much has been happening on the board. We need DWTS to begin!!! LOL

XOXOXO

I admire you to no end for doing all of this! And those kids will always remember your great hospitality. You are a star!!!!!

Awww....thanks, Annie.  Very nice of you to say that!  I hope they weren't too uncomfortable, although the informal student survey my daughter did (with a couple of the kids) was that the living room dormitory was way better than motel rooms....and, of course, it was much cheaper!  They were an outstanding group....no one even complained about having to line up to shower!!  A 3rd bathroom would have been helpful if we were the Duggars!

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Re: Olympic Chat Party

Hope everyone is doing well tonite....just about to call it a day.  I think that I've finally almost come down from the ferris wheel that was the last week!  Hubby and I went to our favorite mom and pop Italian restaurant for supper tonite....and it was devine!  Their lasagna is ALWAYS excellent and the chicken marsala is to die for!  Tonite did not disappoint.  We asked if they could split both meals, which they were happy to do, so we actually each had 2 entrees!  Their meals come with unlimited tureen of minestrone soup (homemade--wonderful!) and salad with their own dressing.  The entrees are huge, so splitting the two was still more than I needed to eat, so brought the rest home for lunch tomorrow!!

I've finally begun to work on one of the Alaska quilt purchases I got on our cruise last summer!  This one has 9 8" moose appliques and various pine trees appliqued on the sashing.  I'll post a photo when it is finished.  I love moose, so this is intriguing!

Well, it's about time for me to turn into a pumpkin....or at least start the transformation!  lol.

Sweet dreams to all the sisters!!

Hugs...😘

Re: Olympic Chat Party

Okay, now to unimportant things. LOL  I have been working on the game board and it is almost ready for the season.  Just need to find out if they are going to have team names and numbers, if they are still doing the voting thing this season.  I am a little surprised that "how this is going to work" hasn't been leaked, I wonder if the producers even know. LOL

I am kind of having a rough day today.  I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night.  I often have nights of insomnia and last night was the worst.  Hopefully, I will just zone out tonight and finally be able to sleep.

Anyway, I just thought I would pop in for a bit and get you all thinking about the game.  Will try and post more about that as it gets closer to the season opener. LOL

Do you have a chance to do a Nanna nap today, Luv?  Hope you'll get some rest soon.
Sharna apparently spoke a bit about the format in one of her instagram stories or some such.  I didn't see it first hand, but it is quoted on the Pure site.  According to that, there will be two eliminations at the end of the first evening.  Viewers will be able to vote online during the show, right from the start of it.  If you've voted for one of the earlier pairs, you will be able to change your vote, if you like the performance of a later pairing better.  Question is (in my mind...), how phone voting comes into it.

Hi, Annie....I hope you are well and keeping busy.

I got a smile from your comment above.  I would call our life very simple and rather plain (just like we are!)...but enjoyable overall.  For all of that, I am most grateful.

My motto (most of the time! ) is;  Live simply, live well, do small things with great love.

Luv, I'm sorry you are having a rough day.  I hate having insomnia...and usually it is because I'm worried about things I have no control over (or about the game board!!!  LOL).   Hope you get a better sleep tonite...and that things will look up for you.

Thanks for your hard work to keep us all chatting on game nites....and for making it fun!

I usually can't sleep during the day. Once I am up, I am up. LOL

I read the stuff over at Pure (thanks).  It sure sounds strange and the West coast, how in the world is that going to work?  I have a feeling this is going to be a crazy season. LOL

Yep, I have that problem too and I also think about everything else from TV shows to what I need to do the next day.  Sometimes, I force myself to not think.....but that doesn't work either. LOL

Going to try to turn in early, but I can tell.....I am still wide awake. LOL
