We have our internet back, Luv. I thought it was a case of the boys with their excavators, this time upgrading the sewers, last time laying a winter creek into concrete pipes. Seems though that we need new cabling underground from the next around 250 metres. On our property the cabling cuts through bush land up a steep hill with little/no access for machinery. It was put down in the mid 80s when there were no trees/bushes in the area. Not sure how they will resolve it. Perhaps with a new trench following along our driveway.
I remember the Nancy and Tonya story from back when it happened. The general sentiment over in the skating fora is that Tonya can't remain in the sin bin forever, though some people want to see her there. Some guy by the name of Vick or so has been mentioned. He had illegal dog fighting going and redeemed himself since to have another career as a public persona. Most believe she is entitled to a second chance after all these years. She doesn't help her case much with her own conduct/attitude though, I believe. Personally, I feel kind of neutral towards it. I don't mind that she gets opportunities by being on the show, but wondering if her personality will get in the way of seizing on them.I was so annoyed by Tonya playing the victim. Nancy was the actual victim. Tonya probably didn't know they were going to attack her, but she helped with the cover-up. She still got to go to the Olympics and proceeded to blow it. Nancy worked her tail off to get better and come back. She did her physical therapy at my health club, and I know that it was rough for her. US Figure Skating had to have a special exposition at the Boston Garden so that Nancy could have a chance to perform her programs before the Olympics. She worked so hard, only to lose to a 15 year old who threw in an extra triple toe loop at the end of her program. Nancy was pretty done after all that and was caught making a couple ungracious comments. Her reign as America's sweetheart didn't last long. (Although she did manage to make fun of herself on SNL.) But, anyway, I'm not sure if Tonya has ever taken responsibility for her actions, but she surely didn't the other night. I was glad the audience wasn't mean to her, but I was surprised by how positive the reaction was.
Oh, how interesting that Nancy did her physical training at your health club. I always felt that she should have won the gold. I liked her program so much more then the actual winner. To me, Nancy was also more graceful then oskana (sp). That extra triple toe loop always upset me....lol. Both girls did kind of see a fall from public grace and had some issues after the Olympics, but they seemed to be able to pick themselves up and move on, where as Tonya, seems to love living in the past, even relishes in it. Imo
Very interesting comments from both of you, vmmm and Luv. I thought I would google Tonya Harding and this is what came up!!!
So perhaps not much at all has changed with the woman....and she is...according to this rag mag...not making any friends with her competitors, it would appear!!!
For me, the fact that she is still carrying on after, lo, these many years (when did she actually compete?? I don't even remember because it was clouded by the drama with Nancy!)...just shows that sportsmanship has never been on her radar screen certainly....rather, she might have done better in theater than ice skating!!!
I completely agree that Tonya seems to be still living in the past; redemption isn't possible if she doesn't accept responsibility and move on. Pathetic!

Okay, I am assuming that next Monday will be pretty much the same format as last week. Two couples going home. So, guesses for this week will be, two couples going home, highest INDIVIDUAL dance, and who you think will win the team dance.
Ok here goes....
Top of the night...Josh and Sharna
Top Team...1970's Football
To be eliminated...Arike and Gleb and Kareem and Whitney (hate to see him go though)

HUMM......interesting. I am SURE that the ice skaters got an ear full about Tonya. Kristi Yamaguchi is from that "era" and since she is still part of the ice "connections" in a pretty big way AND a DWTS winner, she may have filled a few things in. However, I do NOT see her as a "gossip", just maybe someone that would say "watch out", in a "sweet" sort of way. Even though Nancy herself was on DWTS, I don't think she skates much or does shows and I am SURE, she would not dicuss Tonya in any way shape or form. LOL
Every interview or whatever, that I have seen Tonya in, she comes off kind of "fakey", I not sure why. I know that when she had the trouble with her skate laces on the Olympic ice....well, it sort of seemed "off", I know that Scott Hamilton said something about it, but I can not remember enough to quote or say what it was. LOL She may be a person who hides behind walls and never shows who she really is or this could be her personality. She "seems" to like the drama and the attention it brings, but who really knows. I think if she would be a little "humble" about things, it might help.....don't know.

I think it will be Kareem who leaves, bless his heart. He tried but appeared to just stand there while Lindsay and others danced around him. Hard to criticize a 71-year-old cancer survivor; he did make a few moves toward the end of their dance, but, as Len said, "How do you criticize a legend? (I remember when his name was Lew Alcindor (sp?)
The second one will probably be Arike; great at basketball and is pretty but can't dance in heels. Why is that important? I liked her dance okay, though. I wish Meryl could come back and be Gleb's partner. He's my favorite -- gorgeous and a great dancer.

Great chart, Luv! Thankyou.
Going home, I guess Arike/Gleb and Kareem/Lindsay.
Top of the leaderboard (indiviual dances only, I think?) will be Mirai.
For the team dances, I'll pick the group that has Mirai and Adam in it. It's the football team, I believe.
I won't be around tomorrow as our equine assisted social skills group is starting again this week.
Have fun, sisters!!
