LOL..... My paternal great-grandmother was born there and is buried there as well. She was a descendant of the Christian missionaries who went from New England by boat around SA to the Hawaiian Islands in the 1820s and 1830s to teach the native people about Christianity. So my mom spent some time in the summers out there. They had a house on the back side of Oahu...but by the time we were around, that was long gone.

She didn't live there all her life; she married my great-grandfather and they lived in Chicago.
I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship. Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Meryl

LOL. For the summer once!!! When I was in college I went to Hawaii for summer school so I could "beach it" for half the day!!! It was cheaper to live in the dorm so that's where I lived!!! LOL. Didn't live in CA till after I was married, tho....so home was NM then where there aren't even any lakes with beaches!!! LOLI hope to go back one day...It is beautiful there but traffic on Oahu was terrible.
which of the islands is most natural, like least commercialized, still????

It would be awesome if one of them did share the interest....kind of a shared generational hobbyYes...I keep hoping too! Son didn't really get interested in radio control until I challenged him...said I was going to fly his airplane!....when he was 10 or 11....and in like 2 weeks he soloed!!! LOL. He always built plastic model airplanes, tho, from the time he was 3-1/2. He also had Tonka dump truck overflowing with all the metal Match Box airplanes....knew each one by name....and knew what he was missing!!! LOL
LOL.....awesome......my son had the truck filled with Hot Wheels.....LOL
Mine had some of those too, but airplanes were his thing most of the time. He and his best buddy when they were toddlers and early elementary school played for HOURS with all of them!! Paint got very "weathered" from all the handling and throwing them around. One day son had a pretty new one called a "Betty". He threw it up near a tree in our front yard....and that thing NEVER came down!!! LOL. He was heartbroken...and we were never able to find another one!!!! LOL. A Betty was a WWII Japanese airplane--twin engine bomber!!! LOL

The one that is lest commercialized Molokai then Lanai and then the Big Island from what I have read.

I was there once back when I was like 20 or so....LOLI would imagine the sunrise or sunset over the Canyon is amazing!!
Yes....it changes with the random clouds that float over, the time of day, etc. Colors are amazing!
it really is beautiful....and it's where I found my fear of heights....LOL.....I looked straight down, and realized Florida is flat for a reason....LOL....us fear of heights people needed somewhere to live....LOL
