I had a long day yesterday.   The dance workshop was good: 4 one-hour classes on swing, Latin (cha cha & rumba), foxtrot & waltz, and bolero.   Then there was a break, too far for us to go home and too long for just dinner.   By the time we went back for another 1/2 hour swing class and then a dance party, we were starting to fade fast.   Then my teacher comes up and asks me to dance.   The music could have been cha cha or swing.   He proceeds to ask me if I know the swing sequence they taught us in the class.   I said, yes, but not up to speed!   Me and my big mouth!  He leads me through it twice, and not without error, but pretty good.   I missed  a couple of steps, but kept going.   Of course, I didn't feel so bad when I later saw him dancing it with his wife, and she messed up, too!

Parts of it reminded me of that pic we had of Val teaching a class.   There was a room jammed full of women, and not one of them was in the same position he was!

Glad to be back on the ship for a few days.   It always seems that when I'm out of contact for a few days, something momentous happens.

Way to go, tango!! Good for you!!  I miss taking dance classes, maybe this will be the year I start up again!! Never did ballroom, just ballet, jazz and tap lol!! xoxoxo

Oh, Cassidy, your comment made me think of something.  

I absolutely love to ballroom dance (not other styles so much) and would rather do that than just about anything else.   If I could dance every day, I could.  Basically, now that our kids are grown, H&I work and dance.   It's our mutual obsession, and I know I'm very lucky to have a husband who enjoys it as much as I do.   But I only really like to dance with him and our teacher.   It's too much effort to dance with other men you're not used to dancing with, especially if they are not at your level.

I have heard many dancers say that ballroom dancing is better than sex.   While I wouldn't go quite that far, dancing to a beautiful song (with appropriate lyrics) with someone you love when everything is going perfectly and you are completely in sync can be, how shall I put it?--orgasmic!    I remember 20 years ago when we were first learning how to waltz dancing to "Can I Have This Dance?" and it was truly magic.   The music just carried us along.  

I'm sure that Maks knows this, and I think Meryl does to.   They need to thank TPTB not only for pairing them but for the song choices they had.   I mean, "All Night," "All of Me," "Feel So Close," "Read All About It," "Just a Fool," "Latch," "Glowing."   Every couple gets at least one clunky song that really makes it hard to do the dance they were assigned.  For M&M, I think that was the samba.   But they still did an amazing job.   One of the reasons the public was so mesmerized was all of those "magic," dare I say "orgasmic," moments on the floor.  

I believe Maks when he says that they were afraid to jinx what they had by taking the relationship further during the season, but that is exactly why the dances were the way they were.   I'll be curious to see what happens when they dance together again.   It'll be beautiful and magical and passionate, I'm sure, but I'm willing to bet in slightly different way, that is, of course, assuming they have taken their relationship to the next level.

Maks and Meryl were asked by a pap what their team name was, and Meryl said, "M&M." The other name I can think of was "Jeta" -- James and Peta. 
The question implied, at least to me, that every team had a name. I don't know of any others -- did I miss something? Do any of you know what they were?
Off to call the newspaper and gripe! Then some cleaning in the kitchen. Later.................
