Friendship is a priceless gift that can't be bought or sold, its value is far greater than a mountain made of gold.
May this FriendSHIP always have wind in its sails and a sunrise on the horizon.

So sorry about your Dad, April. Yes, indeed, I'm sure that he had a glorious heavenly reunion with Niecy. Despite your joy for them, it is still a time of sorrow for those left behind.Holding your hands and lifting you up in prayer.

April.....((HUGS)). I am so very sorry to hear that your dad passed but he has no pain and is not suffering any longer.  Big relief that he hung on until after Li’l Guy’s birthday...and Mother’s Day too!  Someone was watching over all of you.  I’m happy you were able to be with him in his final moments...as well as your mom and step-mom.  How well he was loved!  You will all keep that in your hearts and enjoy the wonderful memories you all have shared.  Good lesson for everyone on how to be one big loving family through all of life’s changes!! ❤️❤️🤗🤗🙏🙏. We love you and know you will find peace knowing grandpa and granddaughter are together again.

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Re: Get ready for DWTS Season 27

I hope this finds all of our sisters well and enjoying many blessings of spring!

This is shaping up to be one of our nicer late spring days here in SoCal!  We’ve had more rain later in the season than normal and temps seem to be quite cool overall.  So much for global warming?!  I know we will soon be wishing for these temps and conditions as the summer season progresses!!

Life is just returning to normal-normal after the influx from the north!  This week I completed my bunco hosting duties for the year—both groups within 3 days!!  YEA!!!!  That is a perfect scenario as all the preparation can be done at once....from cleaning to set up to shopping for the snacks and desserts!

Yesterday hubby and I went to San Diego to spend the day with the family down there.  DIL is no longer working on Fridays so there isn’t a need for someone to stay with the kids every other Friday (son has every other Friday off); then add to that they are old enough now to be able to stay on their own for a few hours at least.  They do tend to aggravate each other, however, if they don’t have some adult supervision now and then!!!  LOL.  So yesterday son was off so we went out for breakfast mid-morning, then kicked the soccer ball around in the street for about an hour while waiting for DIL to get home (she worked early in the a.m.).  Once she got home we went to the Safari Park, which is VERY close to their new house.  All our zoo/safari park passes had expired so we renewed them and had a lovely afternoon there.  The Safari Park is smaller than the SD zoo (but is a part of the zoo) and not as hilly so the walking around is less intense and the ambiance is lovely.  The plants and walkways are quite shady (good thing as it can be very hot out htere) and lush.  The animals are in open areas where they have replicated the natural terrain of the native areas (mostly in Africa) where they reside.  The kids had an arena soccer game at 5:40, so we hung around to watch them play....then headed home (traffic clears out about 6 down there and it’s a much easier and quicker drive).

Later this afternoon we are going to a 50th birthday party for a friend at their house....just a low-key gathering.  So that will be fun!  A bunch of airplane people milling around!!!!!!!!  LOL LOL

I’ve just gotten the sewing machine out after a couple weeks’ hiatus....and am focusing on UFOs (UnFinished Objects).  Hoping to complete a few!

Oh—yesterday we also picked up my newest acquisition.....a 1910 Singer treadle sewing machine!  It is not in the house yet but came to me via DIL’s grandmother, who didn’t even know there was a sewing machine in the cabinet she purchased 20+ years ago in an antique shop!!!  She just liked the “desk”!!!  The machine is in PRIMO condition, decals pristine, and I am soooo excited to admire and touch it!!!  Tomorrow we will bring it into the house and remove the packing materials.  I’ll post a photo when we do the reveal!!!  LOL. Like having a new baby!!!!!  LOL. Hoping I can locate a bobbin through a repair shop that works on Singer featherweight machines so I can try to sew on it.  The treadle works very smoothly—and there is a needle in it!!

Need to get something to eat.  I will try to check in more frequently.  It is just TOOOO long without a chat nite!!  How can we fix that??

((HUGS))

Re: Get ready for DWTS Season 27

Evening to you all...Been a few days since my last visit...had a super busy week at my DIL house and a followup appointment at the dentist to finish the work on my tooth that had the root canal.  My daughter and her hubby had been in Disney World for 5 days and got home Wednesday night bout 11 pm and she got sick with a cold while she was there.

Hope everyone else has been doing well.  April again sorry to hear of the losses in your family, and Eastcoast thinking of you too.

Hope the weather in Texas is not effecting any of our sisters.

Well I am going to check the news before bedtime.  I can't wait for the new season of DWTS to start, how about you all???

Re: Get ready for DWTS Season 27

ABC revealed some key elements about Season 28 for 'Dancing With the Stars' on Tuesday. The network hopes to revitalize the long-running franchise.

On Tuesday, ABC announced its 2019-2020 television lineup to the press and to advertisers at the annual Upfronts in New York City. The network gave some insight into Dancing With the Stars and the plans they have for Season 28.

2018 was a tough year for the long-running dance competition show. Its abbreviated four-week Athletes season frustrated fans, and Season 27 was a roller coaster of surprise departures and uneven theme weeks. ABC knew they needed to find a way to refresh the show for Season 28.

ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke gave some insight into what the network is planning for Season 28. The news should excite longtime fans because it’s clear the network has faith in the show and is putting some muscle behind it.

 Celebrities
The most notable quote from the press conference call was Burke mentioning that the network was “going after bigger stars than we have in a long time.” She did not elaborate on what that exactly meant in terms of star wattage because there is a big difference in Hollywood between a George Clooney and a D-list reality star. Hopefully, DWTS will settle somewhere in-between and strike a buzzworthy balance for Season 28.

 One season per year
In order to go after these bigger celebrities, ABC is going to settle into the once-a-year format with DWTS. The two-seasons-per-year scheduling started to water down the franchise and did not pack a punch in terms of drawing viewers and talent to the table.

“Resting the show does help us focus on talent and we will go after people that we think will be the strongest,“ said Burke. "That has been a gift and the producers are chomping at the bit to bring it back next fall.”

This makes DWTS more of an event show each fall now since fans will have to wait nine months before a new season begins again. While it might take some adjusting for those who are used to a spring season, it’s a strategy that is extremely successful in the U.K. with Strictly Come Dancing.

  Format
Burke then added more intrigue to the DWTS story by sharing some format possibilities with the press, “We have been pitched some really fun format changes for Dancing With the Stars by the executive producers but right now they are top secret. [Reality chief] Rob Mills and I had a meeting with them a couple of months ago and got very excited about some of the new ideas that they were talking about to freshen up the format. It’s still the show that the audience knows and loves, but they’ve got some good ideas in terms of how to surprise people in new ways.”

Dance Network confirmed with several sources that producers took a hard look at Strictly’s format during the winter break and analyzed what made the show so successful with viewers. It’s quite possible that elements from the BBC series will be adapted to the U.S. series in the fall. ABC wants to make DWTS appointment television once again.

 Dancing With the Stars: Juniors
The most notable absence from the schedule for dance fans was DWTS: Juniors. The freshman show didn’t make an impact on ratings, but it was a fan favorite because the series had so much heart. In its timeslot is the reboot of Kids Say the Darndest Things with Tiffany Haddish.

Burke revealed that negotiations had been going on a long time with Haddish and if the network was not able to finalize the deal, their summer slate of game shows would have filled that hour on Sundays. However, ABC still did not mention DWTS: Juniors. Dance Network later learned that Juniors will not be returning.

With all of the news to digest and a full slate of possibilities for the fall, DWTS is coming back with a vengeance. Season 28 has a renewed energy and a mission to bring all back to the ballroom.
