“I would love to be a mom,” Carrie Ann Inaba, 51, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I do still consider adopting. I have considered fostering to adopt.”

 But the potential mom-to-be admits she’s “nervous” about the prospect of becoming a single parent.

 “As a single woman in her 50s, I want to make sure that I will have the energy and that it’s fair to the child,” she explains.

 “I saw the movie Instant Family and I’m probably going to take one of those [foster parenting] classes. It’s on my list!”

Howdy, Sisters!  Hope you all are enjoying the Memorial Day weekend. 

I heard some flag etiquette on the radio this morning.  On Memorial Day, if you have a regular flag pole, in the morning, you should raise the flag slowly to full staff, then slowly lower it to half staff where it should remain until noon.  At noon it is slowly raised to full staff for the remainder of the day.  Just thought that was interesting!  Oh—and your faded or torn flags can be dropped off at a local VFW or American Legion post or given to the Boy or Girl Scouts.  All of those organizations do the ceremony and burning of old flags on June 14, which is Flag Day.  Our local VFW post has a mail box in the parking lot on the outside of the building for dropping off the tattered flags for disposal.  It is marked for flags.

We have had a busy and difficult week.  Our long time close friend lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on May 21st.  We visited him the day before.  He was at home under hospice care....but only for 3 days!  Prior to that he was pretty much functioning as best he could!  A weaker man would not have lasted that long.  They are Jewish, so we had very short notice (about 24 hours) that the funeral was on Friday morning.  He was the HS band director when our son was in HS and our families developed a long and lasting friendship.  He impacted thousands of students over 40 years of teaching music in NY and CA.  Even with the short notice I counted 12-15 former students who came to the service.  It was really fun to see all of them again!  I was Band Booster Presient for about 10 years so they all knew me!!!!  LOL. LOL. This afternoon we are going to the house to “sit shiva” with the family.

On a brighter note, we are pretty much back to normal after about 4 crazy weeks!  Our next excursion is not until early July when we plan to meet duaghter and family in Napa for a week.

KOS:  I was really sorry to hear about the problems your son had in acquiring the Victorian.  If it meant to be there will be another way to accomplish it.  This I am certain of....and if it doesn’t come to pass, there will likely be hidden reasons for that as well.  I hate that cities seem to be incentivized to take down old properties that may have historical value to erect “luxury apartments”.  It is all about the tax money!  I do hope you will be on the MB more often....and I am trying to fulfill that promise too!  I have missed everyone.

Jet, I am sorry for the loss of your friend. HUGS  It sounds like he made quite an impact on those that knew him.  It kind of warms my heart that so many students went to his funeral to pay respect.  He really sounds like he made a difference in those lives he touched.
