Do we know if Maks is still in LA or is he back home?
I've been thinking that M&M have been together this week. Does anyone agree?
Well, if they were together this week, it wasn't for long since he was seen in West Hollywood on Tuesday, going to his car after lunch! Ollie!! Another bump in the Maks ride!!

Could just be a cover up......the back to school smoke screen. Thot they are both online but who knows??LOL...yeah i think they would have to do onlline...to be able to keep up with skating stuff
Plus at their point in life (late 20's) and with their personal lives, there is no real reason to commit to on campus presence now that it is possible to take classes online. Having to go to class is sooooo boring and full of time OUT of class that it is a waste of time for them, as I see it---or at least not a particularly useful way to do it, especially when many upper division classes are at nite because many can apply to a post graduate program that working people need to take. I doubt they really need the on campus experience at this stage in their lives. Kinda past that!!
totally agree with you

LOL...loved everything you said and i think your right about that....just read the article cek posted the link too about raising pro athletes and the part from Meryl's mom was very interesting...she said it's been hard on Meryl going from super structured to more relaxed and she also said at one point that Clayton had more real life experience than Meryl because skaters live in a more (don't remember her word) but protceted enviornment...that makes alot of sense and would explain why she needs time to adjust...and I think Maks understands that and is trying to protect her from the press by making himself their target..to give her that room she needs to adjustWhere is this article that CEK posted? When I read the above paragraph, starting with "Meanwhile, everyone will certainly need to attend your Snooping and Reporting Maxology class. . . I came unglued LAUGHING and am still at it!!!!!!!!! There is so much truth here, and yet it struck me as funny!! Maybe we need to add "Maksology Psychology 101"
We need to get Val over here to at least assist with Maksology Psychology 101!!! LOL
ummmm...we still haven't figured out Val Psychology yet!!LOL

There IS a DWM show going on Sept. 13 and 20 in the same theater where Sway was performed (I keep saying this but I never see it added): No idea whether Maks will be there but I would think he would at least be around to show support for his students, who will be performing.[/quote888]
hmmmm...well according to this list she is free on sept 10th...isn't that when Maks, Val and Tony are sopposed to be appearing at the grand opening of DWM Sherman Oaks????.......Hmmmmmm[/quote888]
Yep, it is!!! And during the time when the shows take place at the place where SWAY was.

Val said it best when he talked about "her selfless effort" to get him to know what it felt like to win. I think Val keeps Maks focused. Both of them are pretty introspective. Thanks, CEK. I miss seeing them together every Monday -- I want that time back!!!
I miss seeing them every week too. ...but the videos keep it fresh....even though we all know them intimately!!!!!! It's just the grace, elegance, and the looks in their eyes that suck you in!!!
i know i still love to rewatch their dances

This should be another Class -- Meryl and Maks' Schedules 101 (but maybe it really fits into the Snooping and Detective 101 Class.

Okay, question #2. Forgive my ignorance, but I grew up (well, from 6 months to 9 years) almost in Mexico, just a few miles north of the Rio Grande River, right next door to McAllen, TX. So.......... my experience with Latin Dances was that you danced them to LATIN music -- imagine that? The FIRST time I saw them danced to just any ole thing was on DWTS. What gives?
Didn't get an answer, so am re-posting in case everyone missed it.
I laughed when I read that last nite....because I was raised in NM on the Rio Grande--and all I could hear was the mariachi band blaring away!!!! LOL Know nothing about the dancing to any music thing. Maybe tango knows?? Or you could ask Maks or Val!! LOL
I composed a long answer and then managed to delete it. Aargh!
The music on DWTS has always been one of my pet peeves. Technically, I suppose you can dance any dance but a waltz to any four count song. I always wonder what kind of music/dance expertise the person who picks the music has. Of course, they are also dealing with the issue of rights and cost on the show. I know the pros submit a list at the beginning of the season of songs they would like, but that doesn't mean you get them.
I've always thought one of the ways TPTB manipulate the show is to give bad music to people this want to cause trouble for. M&M had pretty fantastic music all season, at least danceable. I think the samba was the worst music.
Here are the dances and the songs from best to worst, IMO:
swing/jive - they usually have decent music for these
rumba - they pretty systematically have real rumba music, even if it's not Latin music, because it's a common beat in popular songs
foxtrot - same for fox trot - it's usually pretty good, primarily because you can do foxtrot to pretty much anything
slow waltz - this is okay because you pretty much can't do a waltz to anything other than slow waltz music
salsa - they're choice of salsa music is usually Latin and usually pretty good
cha cha - usually they have pretty good songs, even if they're not Latin. A lot of them are what my studio calls rock cha chas (ie. M&M Week 1)
samba - it's really hard to do a good samba to bad music; the music adds so much to it. M&M did a superb job with really crappy music. That was not a samba song.
Viennese waltz - I don't think I've ever heard a real V. waltz on the show. Usually they use country songs which are often written in 12/8 time (1-2-3, 2-2-3, 3-2-3, 4-2-3). These can be counted as 4 counts by accenting 1/2/3/4. Or as 4 sets of 3 for a waltz time. It's not really a waltz and most country songs do not give the right feel for a V. waltz. M&M had a pretty good song message wise, so they could work with it.
paso doble/tango - this is probably the worst, IMO. Rarely do couples get a real tango or paso song. M&M's tango music was not a tango, but it was a driving rock song, so they could use it.
This is just my estimation of the music. But M&M really lucked out, except for the samba.

I doubt they really need the on campus experience at this stage in their lives. Kinda past that!!At her level of study, assuming this is the end of it, it might make sense that she would perhaps have to be there for the beginning and end of the semester to meet with the professor and then could do the rest of the work on-line. It may be more of an independent study kind of thing rather than a completely on-line course. Things that are completely on-line are often lower-level courses, while seminar-type advanced classes may require some class meetings.
They've already done the "college/campus experience" thing. Meryl has even lived in her Tri-Delt sorority house. Now, she just needs Maks to move into her house and do everything for her -- cook, etc, so that she has plenty of time to study!!!!!!!!! Ha!
