It was good....we had one boy so close to medaling...I think he was disappointed because he was 4th in Double A but 11th overall and they just gave the top 7 medals.

Hey, April....you a band mom too??!!! Those were some of my greatest memories with my son in HS!! Daughter was the serious jock; he was the band geek (and drum major)!! What instrument does your daughter play? Have fun!!!

LOL yeah i'm a band mom   this is our first year of marching band but she and my son have been in the orcestra and string ensamble and jazz band for several years....she plays the bass drum in marching band....all 5'1" of her marches with the biggest drum!!LOL.....game got rained out tonight but our awesome band director invited the visiting band and parents to join us in the auditorium for an impromptu concert so the bands could play anyway

 
Oh--cool!!!  Nice gesture by your director!!  Those are the things the kids remember.  Do you have a drumline too?  Our school had one while my son was there.  My kid played tenor sax but joined the drumline--and later coached it after he graduated and then arranged the music for some of the performances.  He also took guitar in HS, owns several guitars now, and continues to play them. 

We had a super director (still good friends with him even tho he is retired now).  Today is his birthday so we talked with him and will see him and his wife next Friday.  He came to CA from NYC schools when my son was a freshman and out here marching band is big in the fall.  So he had to "fake" it and learn how to coach it by hiring people who he could learn from for the marching, parade judging, etc.  We had a really GREAT band experience.  I was booster club president for about 10 years--long after my son graduated!!!  Was a fixture around the school for about, I don't know, maybe 15 years!!  LOL  The principal at the time joked that I had a "lifetime commitment" to the school!!  HAHA  We took the kids to a local hamburger joint after every football game to eat and socialize.  Took trips over spring break--to WDW twice, Hawaii once, DC once.  We were busy!!!  I guess itt WAS a lifetime commitment!!!  HAHA

Enjoy those experiences; too soon they are off and gone!
