Do they do field shows at half time? How big is the band? Ours was really too small to be good at field shows.yeah they do halftime shows and also some competitions...LOL...ikd exactly how many are in it but i would guess at around 50 or so
Our band did some field show comps too--but never did that well. I think we did them for the first, maybe 2nd year--then focused on parade marching and drumline comps. Drumline was pretty successful. It is so subjective (just like dancing!) and the big band schools have a big advantage cuz they have better instrumentation, nicer uniforms, etc. Of course, at least out here, it depends on who your competition is too!! But it is the process, the discipline, teamwork, and the experience that matter more than the outcome.
yeah...this is our first yr with it so i don't know how they normally compare but they look good to me ....i know all about that subjective judging though...before they switched to music they did tae kwon do for about 11 yrs.... LOL

Thanks again for bringing these over! I was finally able to watch them, albeit with lots of stops and starts, this morning. What I wanted to see was what Maks was saying when he put his hand on her hands folded in her lap. And I was rewarded! That's the point where he said he was uncomfortable talking about himself (he didn't really seem like it), that this was her win. I think she said "It's all you" like she did when they won. But really that whole interview was all about Maks, and she seemed to love it. You didn't even get a glimmer of any dissatisfaction in her eyes about them focusing on him instead of her. IMHO, that's love!
I agree with you tango...I guess I find it hard to understand, but yet do understand in a way why and how two people that I personally feel are right for each other and with all the little indications between the two of them from at least Week 3 of DWTS most likely feel the same way...can and do keep such a distance in public, is it fear of the unknown because both of their lives are on totally different paths than they have ever know (Meryl not competing, Charlie getting married, their Ice Dance future kinda up in the air, college...and Maks not competing on DWTS, trying a new career, acting, changing management companies, new dance studios and both not getting any younger)...Is it all of that, could it be the commitments that Meryl has, she must keep a low profile as far as who she associates with and confirm all her doings with her management and PR people...especially with all the rumors that swirl around Maks every day...I just feel that somewhere deep inside both of them they want to express how they feel...(Maks as basically said that and Meryl has never actually denied it) to the world...If anything is a true sign of how they feel one only needs to watch them when the camera is not just on them but even when they are really not on camera...that should tell you!!!
I have not idea if any of that makes any sense but there it is....
Good Saturday morning all! Hope you all are going to have a great Labor Day weekend1
Sorry I missed you last nite. We ended up going out to dinner with some friends we hadn't seen in a while--fairly impromptu thing. Ended up trying to watch a movie at their house afterwards but they are as technologically challenged as the rest of us--HAHA!! It was hilarious actually--couldn't get the DVD to load so we just drank wine instead!! LOL In all fairness, tho, they had changed out some boards in the TV recently which presumably caused the problem. Just had fun teasing them about it--and it's so me to not be able to operated the DVD player!! Grandkids are old enough to do it for me now!! LOL
Anyway--on the MnM comments, CEK, I think you expressed what we all think and feel very well!!! Makes perfect sense to me!! It is in fact frustrating for all of us not to know what is going on with them (are we just nosy losers or what?!! HAHA). Truly we have no right to know anything they don't want us to know but somehow we think we should be privy to their lives!!!! LOL Social media has in large part created this expectation, so logically people think that they should put stuff out there to assuage our curiosity. So it is, I suppose, a dichotomy for them as well as for us.
I believe they are together more often than they let us know, that they are in close contact daily, and that they are trying to figure out where they are going and how they are going to get there. So tactically I think they are flying below the radar as much as is humanly possible to reduce expectation and curiosity--while strategically working on where they are and where they are going long-term. Maks, being older and having had more female relationships (I assume), has a more defined understanding of what he wants in a soulmate--and knows he has found it. Meryl, otoh, had apparently a somewhat tenuous relationship for the 3 years prior to meeting Maks, so she has more to sort out. I doubt she had any expectation that in 3 mos. she would be in love with a guy who wanted to get married NOW! She is also more cautious by nature, so I think they both want to have it worked through as much as possible before their break-out announcement or photo together somewhere. I don't think either of them wants to come out and not be certain where they are going together. I think it was a bit into the relationship before Maks and Kate Upton were even seen together--and I don't know that folks were even speculating on who he was dating then.
In short, I think it will all come together and come out eventually--but we, being not so patient in this arena, tend to question "whatever it is they have" that they want to be "off cameras."
Meanwhile, everyone will certainly need to attend your Snooping and Reporting Maksology class since we are not getting any real clues!!! Might have to create our own!!!! At least we have done a lot of advanced planning (of the wedding and kids' names, etc.) for them--SHOULD they decide to take advantage of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Message Board and Counseling Service!!! LOL
All Right, Peeps!!! Write this down someplace else and keep it, because it is priceless!!! I'm talking about the paragraph above. I LOVE it!!!
