I think the original is in French and the lyric are a translation...not mine however cause I am luck if I can speak English...LOL
Well, here's another skill I can add to Maksology. I speak French!!! Here's my translation of the French lyrics--a lot yes googly.
Early December in Buenos AIres
A summer evening in the other hemisphere
Improvises, to calm her heart
She goes far to avoid her fears.
What does it matter whether she is alone or with someone
Really, she is only halfway having fun
She tries in vain to be modest
Dreaming of a life in color
Hesitant, unsure and far away
So fragile, yet honest when she smiles
She was waltzing, between pain and sorrow
But it was actually her way of being here
Far from the bursts of blockbusters
From stories born for the TV
She eyes the lies with resentment
She loves to imagine a life somewhere else
In the back streets she paces
Looking for the exhilaration of old
So many shivers forever dulled
To the black and white of a silent film.
What does this mean is right? And how much does anyone understand of a song in another language? However, before we go off on the lyrics, I think it's more interesting to watch the original music video:
The lyrics aren't very prominent and the music isn't very gripping, but the story told in the video is more revelatory, I think.

Neat article on Meryl and Charlie by the Ice Network. I found some of the personal notes interesting.
