April, thank you so much for this addtional paragraph that so deepens the significance of what Maks did when he made and then acted on the decision not to be a pro dancer with DWTS any longer.  I personally believe that his decision not to dance any longer as a pro, which they had to have discussed; that her words to him about that decision after their freestyle dance; and that his response to her answer to his hand holding question all signaled a relationship that was on its way to marriage.  No honorable girl says what she did to him after their freestlye unless she is thinking commitment on her part because in saying what she did, she endorsed his decision to give up a large portion of his income and the publicity that goes with it. Her parents attending SWAY deepened my conviction.  And so I have believed all along that these two are indeed in constant communication.    

me too...and like you said if she wasn't emotionally attached to him too....why would she go along with him giving up the major part of his income....thats not Meryl's style...if she had no interest in him she would have encouraged him to stay with DWTS and not cut ties with them....

 
But she learned from him--and by extension learned to respect him for this--that it is important to be who you are and not apologize for it.  So they had obviously talked before the finale about what his decision not to return to dwts based on her comment after the freestyle about "dancing his last freestyle" with him.

Hmmmmm and the plot thickens.  Imagine if she has been with Fedor this whole time!!!!!!!  Maybe they were just off during DWTS and got back on again after the show ended????  She posted something on facebook early on in the relationship with Fedor....a line from that song Feels Like Home "Something in your voice makes my heart beat fast.  I hope this feeling lasts the rest of my life."  I think she really liked him.  Maybe they really are together still.  I mean, why would he post that TBT picture like the day after she won?  Very strange.

But didn't she break up with him because he became controlling and/or abusive? I don't believe she is with him at all, but she would have to be friendly to him because her coach, Marina, is his mother.
