Well, it looks like one of "our" DWTS pros have called "quit" on their marriage. Cheryl and Matthew have filed for divorce.

I didn't know that Maks was still in Ukraine.........There are a couple of videos of him talking, one he gets very emotional.

Re: It's 2022 Lets see what this year brings

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Sisters!  I’m always a couple months late!!!  LOL

Gunner just texted me with the info on Maks in Ukraine.  Such a scary place right now—and he is in Kyiv where the action is getting heavy.  I heard that women and children were sleeping in the subways because there are no shelters or bunkers.  Praying Maks can get home and that the Ukrainian people will prevail.  I know that is a long shot, but, to quote Maks, “War is never the answer.”  It was interesting that he said the situation has dredged up some negative memories.  So that may explain some of his bad boy behavior from years ago….PTSD.   Good that he has had a chance to reconnect with the country of his birth and kinda put some things to bed.  Now if he can just get home safely…and SOON!  🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

I hope all of you are well.  Sorry I have been kinda distracted with RL for the past few months.  However, I do keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.  Hope to chat with you all soon!

((HUGS))

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Meryl
We fell in love, but our way. Maks

Remember he was at the Twin Towers when the bombing happened on 9/11 …..I wonder if that was a big part of what he was referring to about negative memories and PTSD….and if I’m remembering my timing correctly that was pre DWTS

You know we have been following Maks, Val and “the fam” for awhile now and in a way through them, I feel like we have also gotten to know the Ukraine and Ukrainian people better too.  I remember early on on sm people and several reporters debating (sometimes with M and V themselves) wether they were Ukrainian or Russian….and well I guess that makes this, (to me) feel a lot closer to home.  It’s really surreal to know he is over there, scared and in a bomb shelter…I mean we don’t really know him…..but we know him, ya know (that probably didn’t make sense)….We’ve laughed at him, voted for him, even got mad at him occasionally, studied Maksology, watched him grow from an egotistical “bad boy” to “grown up” loving husband and father and along the way he and Val have shared their history and Ukrainian culture with us…..I’m not sure before M&V I could have told you the difference between Russia and the Ukraine….so to see him that emotional and openly vulnerable….well ….He is strong and I’m sure has a good team….we’re all praying for him to get safely home….but like he said so many don’t have the options and resources he does…..and I can help but think these are sweet people…people that are Grandma’s like, Grammy C and Mamma C,  Husbands and Dads like Papa C ….brother’s and siblings like M&V ….children like Shai…..I guess what I’m rambling trying to say is you see stuff like this from places around the world all the time on the news….but it doesn’t seem as “real” as it does when it hits closer to home, ya know…and it reminds me,  even with all the problems we as a country are facing right now, how truly BLESSED we really are….(((((GROUP HUGS)))))))

Good morning, All!

Going out shortly to the VA with hubby.  Mood Clinic today (he always says the same  thing!!).

But I wanted to respond to you, April.  You are so right that we know Maks…yet we don’t!!  We certainly lived vicariously thru him for a while…back in the MnM days.  But we have gotten to know him also as a “grown up” and his emotions are still raw and open.  I admire him for feeling he can share that with his followers and there is no doubt a bit of catharsis there also.  I was struck by his comment that he just wanted to “go home”, which I took to mean the US and his family.  There is no place on earth that welcomes people of all colors, creeds, stripes, and backgrounds the way we do here in America.  His comment, to me, said that he is fully assimilated and appreciative of his adopted country (he has always sated that).  With that no doubt goes a great deal of remorse, fear, and sadness that Ukraine is under attack (flashback to 9/11, as you also said, April).  There is a reason he is there and witnessing this sad and unfortunate situation.  But with these things we gain increased faith, wisdom, and strength in who we are and who we are becoming in the journey of life.  Maks has lived in both worlds…and this is a reminder how very fortunate we all are to be here in the US, despite its ups and downs, its positives and negatives.  We must continue to recover our freedoms and know that this is still the Shining City on a Hill where people from everyone on the globe know there is refuge.  God bless America and also all those in Ukraine who are fighting for a better life.

(((HUGS))) to you all!
