Yes, it is. Interesting Mama C is Christian and Papa C Jewish. It is workable combo, tho. I did read somewhere Maks saying in Ukraine they had to hide their Jewishness but here they can celebrate and be open about it. Good for him! I only joke about it because our Jewish friends are the ones who bring up the stuff and then poke fun at it....cuz that is how they are!

So is the rabbi a fortune teller or what?!! Getting a blessing to marry Meryl??!! No disrespect intended. This rabbi seems very conservative, and I think Maks was just messing around. He has said that although he identifies as Jewish (because of his father) that he is not very religious. If he did follow the Jewish religion, I'm pretty sure he would be a reformed Jew.
but you know maybe he's feeling a need to reconnect with his roots....he seems to be in a very reflective mood since he came back from Italy....hmmmm

Yes--and I wonder if he has revisited that pre-perfume?!!! LOL Is he waiting for her to agree to the proposal so he won't be rejected--or is she saying she is ready now??Well, he didn't exactly propose to her. What he said was, "I love you and I would love to marry you, but first I need to know if you and Charlie are dating." I mean he didn't actually say "Will you marry me?" I wonder if he has said those exact words.
I have no doubt that he's talked with her about it, don't you think?
Yes, I think they have. They have had a difficult time getting together, and everyone who thinks you can just jump on a plane any old time may not be aware of the cost. I don't think they (especially Meryl) have money to throw around like that. I think they have wanted to have more time together to see if things could work out. Maks has already been burned, so he may be more cautious this time. Ask me what I think about this after Monday night!!!

LOL.....that will be after the pool party so you can expect to get sunburned and then they will keep you up all nite to boot!!! HAHA Just don't allow the "co-ed" slumber party!! I have a story about that I could tell ya!!! LOL My son thot I had just fallen off the turnip truck--and boy, was I mean when I said, "Hell no!" The girl who invited "them" (but eventually it seemed all the others canceled--or maybe weren't ever invited??) was hot for my kid and her mother was a drunk but she was gonna "chaperone". Oh yeah-and was I ever "mean and protective" when I was the first (maybe only?!) mom to say no!!! Anyway--that was a nice try, but I could see that going somewhere it shouldn't!!! LOL Wouldn't have it at my house, so why would I let him to somewhere else?? LOLGood for you, Jet! My daughter told me so many wild stories about parties where just anyone showed up and all kinds of things were happening. One example: getting shaving cream out of the bathroom and spraying it all over the fence. Oh yeah, one couple getting it on near some bushes by the driveway. Sometimes, there were no parents there! So, I never let her have a party like that at our house -- too many liabilities (pool) with just anyone showing up. Plus, the neighbors ..............well, they wouldn't have loved it.
When our son was almost 18, he asked me if that meant he would be legally liable if he did something wrong or had an accident, etc. I said, "Absolutely!" He truly was intimidated at the prospect. But at the same time I said to him something like, "Well...you may have thought I was protective and "mean" sometimes, but you don't have any children out of wedlock, you are about to graduate from HS and go off to college, you haven't been in jail, you don't do drugs, and you've never been accused of doing something you didn't, so if that is being protective, I've done my job!" So that is my story and I"m sticking to it!!! He is a great "kid" (now 36) but we have been so blessed that our kids were pretty easy to raise and they always took the straight path.
thats so good to hear...i love hearing stories from all of you guys about how well your kids have turned out and are doing good....so many times you hear the bad stories about teenagers out there...it's really good to hear good teenage stories

I was often the taxi driver on band and sports trips because we had the big van. It was always an eye-opener to sit there, driving along, and listen to the kids' conversations!! It also allowed me to occasionally comment and they learned to respect my opinion. They knew they could trust me. When my daughter was graduating she and a bunch wanted to go to Mexico on sort've a turn-around thing. Three of them came to me and asked if I would basically lie to another girl's mom about where they were going (saying she was spending the nite at our house) so this other girl could go with them. I looked at them and quietly said, "Hmmmm....if I were her mother, I wouldn't want another parent to lie to me. And, frankly, if something happened--an accident or whatever--where does that put me?!" Welll.....they all agreed they had never thought of that--and I was right! So I just told them to go with the girl and ask her mom because the worst she could say was no (and the girl was 18 anyway!). So they did that and the girl went with them!!! It was just something they felt they had to do--about a 6 hr. trip and they were home!! Just a teenage rite of passage, I guess!! I hope they all learned to tell the truth!

Oh, yeah--I actually have heard of that from our Jewish friends. We talk Judaism a lot together and laugh about some of the traditions (they are practicing Jews but we all see the humor of some of it). The high holy days are coming soon--Rosh Hashana (not spelled right) and Yom Kippur. Maks must be getting ready. Maybe the lightning will strike and he'll get the message to get the engagement ring to Meryl!!! LOL
Hope you're right!! Heck, I would be happy just to have them come out and say "We are officially a couple; we're dating."

I agree but the tradition is still something he could explore. Those Orthodox Jews do some things--like not even flipping on a light switch on the Sabbath--that seems so over the top in our world.
