Yes, it would be nice, but I think that would rock the house too much and take too much away from the new season--even IF there was not bad blood between him and dwts. It would be nice to see MnM together there but....I'm with Luv on this.ok if he's not there and she dances who do you think she'll dance with???
Hmmmm.....Val, I think.
yeah that would be my guess too

Maybe Jon Hamm could use a pair. In Joan Rivers' latest book Diary of a Mad Diva this is just part of what she wrote for Sept. 22, 2013: "According to the tabloids, Jon Hamm is hung like a horse. In fact, I've seen a nude picture of him from when he was in college and it looked like he had a child in his lap. They claim his schvantz is so big that when male horses talk among themselves they say things like, 'I hear Flicka's hung like Jon Hamm.'" Terrible, I know, but I dare you to read this aloud without laughing. Typical Joan -- I laughed so hard all through this book that I had sore muscles in my rib cage area!! (Hope you all don't think I am perverted!)

Hi everybody. I didn't post yesterday and have not posted yet today because these two days have been filled with commitments and appointments and the book club. And what an incredible discussion we had as we continued our discussion on "The Ethics Of Elfland." I posted a quote from the "Ethics of Elfland" earlier this week to this board: "The vision is always the fact; it is reality that is often the fraud." And to my astonishment that is what one of the participants wanted us to consider in depth. Great discussions from all sorts of perspectives are incredibly life giving. And it is always delightful when someone who feels they don't understand something, suddenly has an awakening and away he or she goes. Later they say, "I don't feel so stupid any more."
On to DWTS. My understanding was that Mark and Derek bought or were buying a house to repair and restore this summer and that it was to be a six week reality show. I never folllowed up on what happened. I would imagine that Mark has also been upset by what Julianne has said about his dad and probably some of the less than complimentary things in Derek's book. But then, any info I have read, I get from the rag mags; so it may all be wrong.
I personally believe that if Mark's partner is in the least bit likable she, like Candace will go far because of the fan base. Candace's major fan base was much of the same fan base that supported Bristol Palin. It is a momolithic fan base. The very conservative Christian right that loves much of the entertainment and sports industry and wants to support those who are unabashedly and politically in agreement with them on matters like gay rights and abortion, I predict will support Sadie. There may be a small percentage of them who will support Lolo Jones. I do not know what Lolo Jones's position on either gay rights or abortion. And Sadie will get the "gun tottin group" who now equate having a gun with being a Christian. Sadie comes across as very sweet. IMO, she will have a lot more than the Duck Dynasty fans voting for her. These are strictly my opinions off the top of my head at this point.
On MnM. I made up my mind when Meryl quoted from the movie "The Winter's Tale" and then also later quoted song that seemed sad, that I should remember that not everything is necessarily a description of how either of them is feeling, not everything is a message. I personally believed that what we saw was real, that they both knew it, but that it was going to be very, very hard to navigate especially this first year. Both of them already had a calendar full of commitments with more commitments to be added. We have talked about contracts with DWTS. Does anyone know how long Meryl and Charlie are under contract and what said contracts include?
DWTS. Personally, I do not see Maks as a pouter and poor loser. I believe that he has said very little because he is legally bound to say very little. I noticed that on the publicity for DWM nothing is said about him or Tonly winning the Mirrorball. Several tumblrs noted that he did not say DWTS or Meryl's name that night. That is so unlike how he was at all the BWAT events. Also, because of his popularity as a dancer and his name recognition, I am wondering how happy/unhappy DWTS was with the idea of the new DWM studio. I read somewhere that it was Elena's husband who suggested that they involve Maks and DWM, because Maks has the name recognition that they do not have to attract students and build their studio. On the other hand, it may not have any relevance. Whatever has happened, even if it is for the best for Maks, I am sure that it has been very difficult.
KOS, you always bring such great insight, and I do read every word. Thanks so much. I had forgotten about the house flipping -- may have to look that up.

Funny--was just seeing a filler on TV on TCM channel about Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. It sounded like it could be about MnM! Electric chemistry from almost first sight, how they basically fell in love during the first movie they worked on together....they just didn't use the word "magic" but they could have!! Nice!!!

Well--today the song said he didn't want (or mean?) to fall in love--but maybe he now recognizes what that is and how it feels--and that it ain't going away by just wishin'!!! Did it really take this long for him to figure it out???Humm, maybe he didn't trust his feelings for Meryl? or really understand them. He knew he loved her.......but what kind of love? He did have a "relationship" with Erin after her season. Maybe, he was afraid that it was a "summer romance" ? I know that he never wants to hurt Meryl in anyway, so maybe, he was taking his time to really figure out what he wanted? Jet, you sure posed a good question.
do you remember in the interview with Tony he said something like they were almost afraid to ruin what they have....maybe it's partly been a fear of losing each other if they went there and it didn't work....but maybe now they're finding themselves more willing to take that risk
Yes! That was on the Extra interview!

We publicized those as "free" car washes and most people gave more than the coupla bucks we would have asked for. Sometimes they gave 20 bucks--and that was in the '90's when that was a lot more than it is now!! It was always fun--and wet--and a lot of hard work....but that's what adds cohesion to the group and develops relationships--the things the kids remember all their lives.yeah i think they do better when it's for donations because like you said some people give more...and we had a couple of people who just donated and didn't want their cars washed....and yeah lots of good memories
...this is our first year with marching band but before they got into the music dept
they were very involved in Tae Kwon Do for a loooong time....and they still remember all those days of fund raisers and black belt camps and traveling for tournaments...some of the kids in band with my daughter were also in Tae Kwon Do with them...so it's great because they share all those memories
Very awesome! The best years are now really because you can relate to them almost as adults--and have coherent conversations on the issues of life and they understand. They will always remember and value these relationships as they move on in life.
Yes that's one thing i try to make sure they understand is how blessed they are....and not to take that for granted but to be thankful for it
