Music I heard With You (or Discordants) by Conrad Potter Aiken
Music I heard with you was more than music,
And bread I broke with you was more than bread.
Now that I am without you, all is desolate,
All that was once so beautiful is dead.
You hands once touched this table and this silver,
And I have seen your fingers hold this glass.
These things do not remember you, beloved,
And yet your touch upon them will not pass.
For it was in my heart that you moved among them,
And blessed them with your hands and with your eyes;
And in my heart they will remember always,
They knew you once, Oh beautiful and wise.
(p.s. Hugh Franklin, the actor, pulled a book from a shelf and read the first two lines of this poem to the author, Madeleine L'Engle. And then he said, "Madeleine, will you marry me?" This, after returning from a summer tour of The Cherry Orchard, during which time Madeleine never heard from him but was being pursued by someone else that Hugh knew about.)
Did she marry him???!!! The drama continues!!! LOL

Hi, east! See you're still battling insomnia..
I also thought a day or two about your young-ish friend battling, was it breast cancer? Any news on that. We have a relative who has been in a "trial" and the imuno treatment for his melanoma seems to be working. Never thought he'd still be with us, let alone feeling and functioning so well a year later! But now the treatment itself is having some side effects and he has to stop for a while.
Some great treatments (though expensive) on the horizon it seems.Hi View,
Had lunch with my daughter and her friend yesterday. She had just gotten back from rehab and having her hair washed and blown dry (as she can't do it herself). She is mending physically but not emotionally. A couple of weeks after the operation, her doctor called to tell her that there had been a misdiagnosis and that she didn't have any cancer in the tumor they removed after all. They had apparently got all the cancer when they took the bioposy. So, bottom line, she had a double mastectomy for nothing!
So, now her life consists of trying to recover and interviewing lawyers. Also, her insurance company called to say that seeings how there was no cancer, this was not a necessary operation and they aren't paying any of the medical bills. I can't tell you how badly I feel for her.
She is just getting some preliminary information on suing in the state of VA and guess what? The cap is 2 million which may sound like a lot of money but remember the lawyer gets a third and the rest is taxable so what does that really leave her? Plus, her insurance company won't pay her bills. And she has to reconcile herself to the idea that she lost 2 important body parts due to someone's mistake. OYE!!
I am so sorry that this happened, EC....it is heart breaking and really inexcusable considering the state of today's technology. Hoping you are able to shore her up and try to help her recover emotionally knowing there are people around her who care about her. I would think she should negotiate a deal that either includes someone paying the medical bills OR having them written off due to the misdiagnosis. I would refuse to pay. Of course, I know only a little about VA medical laws as my sister-in-law there is a CNM and we talk about that stuff on occasion....probably all those bases have been covered. Hope she finds an excellent attorney.

Yes, and they had two or three children and a long life together until Hugh died. He was on All My Children for a few years, but I wasn't watching it then. Madeleine is now gone also.

Did anyone watch GMA this morning? I had taped it and whizzed through it until Karina was on with Melissa Rycroft interviewing her. Karina and someone else have written a book, We're Just Not That Into You, and she has lists of different kinds of men in it, like The Serial Cheater, etc. She wouldn't name any of the men but GMA showed two pics of her with Maks in earlier times. I'm going to Amazon.com for more details. Or maybe GMA.

He was on AMC from the very beginning in 1970 until 1983 when he had to quit because of hearing problems. He was Dr. Charles Tyler, but I didn't start watching it until around 1990 or 1991. I think his wife on AMC was Mona Tyler.

Wow! I hope she gets properly compensated for this terrible mistake!
