I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Happy Saturday morning, sisters! Hope everyone is warm and cozy. Overcast again this morning here on the Left Coast but "chance of rain" in the next 24-36 hours!! I say, "Fat chance"!!!

While off topic, I have to share an experience with my grandchildren yesterday. They wanted to go to the tide pools-- and someone had said the tide was out in the afternoon, so we took a ride over to LaJolla (Spanish name pronounced La Hoya)---about 20 min. drive to the coast. Went to LaJolla Cove, which is a beautiful secluded cove along the beach---with tons of people, tho!! We walked down the stairs from the overlook onto a rocky area and the first thing we saw was a mama sea lion and her nursing pup RIGHT THERE on the rocks about 30feet from the bottom of the stairs!! People all around them taking pics (including me). We sat literally less than 3 feet from them just to watch. They just laid there as if no one was around!! There was a whole herd of sea lions on the rocks around the area and 5 others on the sandy beach area in the cove. Just oblivious to the onlookers. AMAZING experience....the highlight of the month!! Tide pools were wonderful but sea lions are special!!

Oh, what a cool experience to share with your grandchildren.  A memory that will last and always be a special one.

It really was awesome---and unusual.  We will all remember it with tenderness and love.  I had no idea sea lions in the wild would be so trusting of humans.  There were also some ocean swimmers who were out there while some sea lions were swimming and playing around near them. I was worried that the ones on the beach might be sick because I heard that there is a problem with the mamas having to go much farther out into the ocean to find food due to the water temp being too high due to La Nina so many of the pups are not surviving.  They nurse their young for most of the first year and mamas go out to feed for 2-5 days at a time.  Now they have to go our farther so the time away is longer.. So I hit the computer when we got back to the house and found that,, unlike seals, which are more aquatic so need to spend more time in the water, sea lions spend alot of time on the beach sunning themselves.  Their hind flippers allow them to "walk" upright, unlike seals which cannot do that, so they are able to move around on land much better and spend more time out of the water  The ones on the beach never moved while people were observing them, walking around, photographing, etc.  I also found that the number of pups born has tripled since 1975!!!!  So I suppose oceanic conditions are a part of the natural process of population control.

Obviously, I'm on the computer this morning with more options than the iPad so I will try to post a photo.  Dunno if it will work but I'll give it a whirl.

I wish that it was warm enough here to go to a beach...only think we will see here are penguins!!! But how wonderful to be able to do this with the grandchildren...

Ah, it is. It's the first day of autumn! A time for hot chocolatety mornings, and toasting marshmallow evenings, as best of all, leaping into *leaves*!

HAHA!!! I love that Meryl doesn't seem to care what he wears, but I think he has gotten his money's worth out of those jeans too!! I could cut them up and use in my denim patchwork picnic blanket!!! . Seriously!!

I didn't know that overalls were in style, duh, where have I been?  I'm sure those jeans/overalls cost more than any jeans that I own (by the way, I love the jeans at Kohsl).

I agree I am sure they cost a pretty penny...and guess what Eastcoast!!!!!  I get my jeans from Kohls too!!!
