Yes, bumping already, so early in the morning....Well, those West Coast kids throw me off with their late night antics!

Jetmama, is there anything fun to do?  any romantic place to stay? along the coast between SD to LA?

Of course, View!!  For you or someone else???

The most beautiful stretch of coastline, tho, to me is the Central /Coast--Santa Barbara up to Monterey  Lots to see up there that is off the beaten path....Morro Bay is one of my favorite places, Hearst Castle, Cambria, San Luis Obispo has a wonderful Farmer's Market every Thursday evening---and wonderful Santa Maria BBQ to eat on the street (or in a restaurant if you can get seating!!).  Nice little mom 'n pop shops.  SLO has a college so there is some nite life there.

San Diego Zoo is a favorite, Balboa Park and its museums and culture, Sea World, Old Town Plaza (Mexican food--yum!), beaches everywhere....oh, and lot of great quilt shops!!!  Son and DIL--LOL--went to a hotel in Carlsbad (on the coast)--about 20 min. from their house for a weekend when we had the kids here a couple weeks ago!!!!  I laughed at them and asked if they were going home twice a day to do their own dog-sitting!!!!  LOL  They paid the kid across the street, but it would have been easy to do!!!  LOL  They loved it!!

California Coastline Travelogue for Saturday, February 21st!!!  LOL

Noooo, not for me.  Though it would be delightful.  I am hoping a little "making up" might be going on between my two little heartstrings, now that the tour is over and Val is in LA.

Oh...that is interesting....in the middle of the nite!!!  LOL  I'm sure there are any number of B&Bs on PCH, which runs along the coastline from the south to SF.  They could be located through the internet, I'm sure.  The "staycation" is what the kids did the other weekend.....LOL  Maybe some photos of V&J will turn up that we can pinpoint somewhere in SD.....like riding the "skyfari" at the zoo or making fun of the monkeys!!!  There is also a 1/4 or some less than full size scale train you can ride outside the zoo entrance--and a carousel.  Weather is not that great for anything but walking on the beach today...not that warm...but walking on the beach is good!!  We'll see what your snooping unveils!!  LOL  They don't seem to be so secretive as MnM.

We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. Happy Saturday morning, sisters! Hope everyone is warm and cozy. Overcast again this morning here on the Left Coast but "chance of rain" in the next 24-36 hours!! I say, "Fat chance"!!!

While off topic, I have to share an experience with my grandchildren yesterday. They wanted to go to the tide pools-- and someone had said the tide was out in the afternoon, so we took a ride over to LaJolla (Spanish name pronounced La Hoya)---about 20 min. drive to the coast. Went to LaJolla Cove, which is a beautiful secluded cove along the beach---with tons of people, tho!! We walked down the stairs from the overlook onto a rocky area and the first thing we saw was a mama sea lion and her nursing pup RIGHT THERE on the rocks about 30feet from the bottom of the stairs!! People all around them taking pics (including me). We sat literally less than 3 feet from them just to watch. They just laid there as if no one was around!! There was a whole herd of sea lions on the rocks around the area and 5 others on the sandy beach area in the cove. Just oblivious to the onlookers. AMAZING experience....the highlight of the month!! Tide pools were wonderful but sea lions are special!!

I wish that it was warm enough here to go to a beach...only think we will see here are penguins!!! But how wonderful to be able to do this with the grandchildren...

We are so fortunate to have great weather almost 100% of the year and to have so many outdoor things that we can do and see---so many for free!  I also feel lucky that the kids just LOVE doing this stuff.  They are so excited at the thought of it!  My granddaughter was so cute.....she was stressing out that we "won't have that much time" (they knew I was leaving when Mom or Dad got home).  She said it several times.  It was like she so looked forward to whatever we do together....I just was so tickled!  It really touched me.  I told her I loved her, that what she said made me feel valued, and how happy it was she felt that way.   We are going to Disneyland on Monday....and she told me she was so excited to be going there with me (we haven't been in 2 years)!  So sweet!!  Makes the distance seem so much shorter.

Did you mean penguins, CEK??!!!  Not pelicans?!!!  If you have penguins in VA, I would love to see them....one of my favorite birds--but then so are pelicans!!!

Re: The Perfect Ten! And Twentieth Season of DWTS

I was thinking about the end of Meryl's interview with Jessica yesterday.  Quite a lot of panko in that.  Here is what struck me:

Glamour: You were in the public eye going into the Olympics, but after the Olympics was an entirely different story. What have you learned about yourself this last year?

Meryl: I have learned that I’m a much stronger person than I ever realized. I was a very insecure person growing up, and every year I feel a little bit stronger and more confident in who I am and I really do love it. Whether it’s the Olympics and looking back and saying, ‘That was not easy,’ I’m proud of myself. And then the experience with Dancing With the Stars, I guess I’m loving new experiences and growing and embracing my own strength.

Glamour: Would you ever consider having another home in Los Angeles?
Meryl: Yes! That is very much on the radar.

Glamour: Even [Olympic figure skater] Gracie [Gold] and I were saying that we have to have a frozen yogurt date out here, but we needed you to join us!

Meryl: Yeah! I’m in! You just wait...that’s very much on my radar right now, so you just wait, Jessica!

The last sentence is particularly intriguing.  I think that means something significant will happen sometime shortly following Charlie's wedding.  She is a planner and for her to say that in an interview is uncharacteristic.  Guess we shall see!!  There is no doubt in my mind that MnM are secure in their relationship and moving it forward into the future.  A lot to look forward to!!!

No we don't have them but that is the only thing that would want to be at the water in the cold or polar bears...LOL

Ah, it is. It's the first day of autumn! A time for hot chocolatety mornings, and toasting marshmallow evenings, as best of all, leaping into *leaves*!

Re: The Perfect Ten! And Twentieth Season of DWTS

Friend and I are going to do a little shopping, lunching tomorrow afternoon....She likes to snoop around and find bargains.   She mentioned Kohl's - which is always fun.

A couple of you mentioned that you like their jeans!!!  This is a good tip, but I wonder...is it the Kohl's own brand of jeans we're talking about.  Which would be branded....what?

Hi April!  I'm watching and recording the show...fanning myself because they just showed Meryl and Maks doing their tango dance!  The show has been wonderful so far!  Loved the intro with all the skaters and that routine with the three guys in black tails...wonderful choreography!

I'll come back later to give my thoughts on the show as well as a few other things.
