By the way...Val is sick.   He tweeted it's chicken soup and germ warfare time.

Re: The Perfect Ten! And Twentieth Season of DWTS

Maks and peta are made for each other and that really is all I have to say about them.  Shipping these two is out of the question for me as I just don't care.

Meryl, well I am hoping that this person she is dating is as special as she is. IMO she deserves the best and whoever he is will appreciate her for her many qualities.  She is caring, giving, generous, thoughtful and considerate not to mention business savvy and accomplished in the sports world as well.  Who wouldn't want her?  She is a diamond.

Am I sad that it turned out the way it did? Maybe not surprised is more like it.  I always questioned so many things that occurred after season 18 was finished.  Either way, it's over and they have each found others who make them happy.  The only thing that sticks in my mind is the way Meryl looked at him every time she was with him.  I interpreted it as love on her part, I think he has always loved her but only as a friend. They will be "lifelong" friends so that is something.

Again? He was sick recently wasn't he?  Maybe time to slow it down Val.

Hi, gabriele...Maks' chapter in the book was kind of sweet, really.  Not a "date gone wrong" as the others.  It was about how they came to date - after knowing each other quite a while.  And his proposal.  He had made very lavish and sweet plans in Las Vegas.  Someone let the secret out, so she sort of knew it was coming...and answered tentatively...with provisions.  And eventuallythey broke up.

But she did start the chapter by saying Absolutely not! to dating him. And that there had been "tons of hookups with random girls in random places"

As I said...she may have made some money in this book deal, but she has lost a lot of friends I think too. And potential dates!!   Mario Lopez must be one that probably no longer speaks to her.

So that kind of corroborates Val's 'promiscuous' remark in the hat-only-interview.  It sounded like true answer back then, coming after they clarified what period the question was referring too, i.e. youth or more recently.  Interesting!  And thanks for summarising.

Hi All   "waving"

I just stopped in to give you the latest update on ABC DWTS MB.  Canadians are now banned from voting.  This is what they are saying when you email them.

"Hi ABC Viewer, I see that you are located in Canada and would like to sign in to vote.Voting for Dancing with the Stars is only available if you're accessing the site from within the US or Its territories (including Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands), and Bermuda. We advise that you continue to check back as we may expand to your area in the future."

What a crock after being an avid viewer for the full 10 years.  Oh well the voice is a good alternative.

HRM....hello there, glad you dropped in.  That is terrible that you are no longer able to vote. I know there is also sign in problems. I tried to sign in several times and the site kept saying there was an issue and to please try again later.  It is really a mess voting wise. Not good at all.

Hope you drop in here more often now that the season has started.

Hi HRM, would it work if you set your location to elsewhere.  I have a feeling, the tumblrs would know a way around it and how everyone can vote umpteen times from one device or one household.  Gotta love 'em.

Hi Luv, if I may answer.....I saw the backstage footage.  Some of it didn't come up for me because I will have to wait until I get home.  I am at school because I am in a dodgeball tournament for the track team to raise money for the track team and I didn't go home....so while I am waiting around for it to start I thought I would come on here....anyways, I saw this post and I thought I would respond.

I think that for one it is sad to see because remember that footage of Maks and Meryl swaying from last year at the finale?  I think seeing him do that with Peta makes you think back on Maks and Meryl....also I think that all of the pictures that have been coming out about Maks and Peta they aren't very affectionate so those pictures still bring up the well they must just be friends...his pictures with Meryl are much more affectionate.....I think that seeing backstage footage where they are just being themselves and not knowing that they are on camera, it captures them being real....those are intimate moments between the two that we saw so I think it makes it more obvious that they are a couple.

I think Maks and Peta are together and it looks like Meryl is with someone - so all is good.  If Maks and Meryl were at odds, she wouldn't be dancing in Sway.

I also don't really fault Maks for going back to Peta....I know people feel he is a hypocrit because of his remark about not dating an ex....but I just feel like he went with Peta after his break up from Karina, who was the love of his life at that time, and probably just wasn't ready.  He's ready now.....if you love someone let them go, if they come back it's yours!!!!!!

I agree with what you've said here, Carrie...and I am not faulting or criticizing anyone....but the question I have is, why does it seem Maks has emotional relationships with every woman (or at least many) he is around but none seem to last or turn into the lifetime commitment he says he wants? Unfortunately so many of the words and images conflict...and it seems that this past year has now really highlighted that. I have always liked the guy and believed he was who he says he is. Now I feel a bit disappointed...or perhaps conflicted is a better word. Kind've like when your child who has let you down...not because of the choice he made or what he did but because after trusting his words, the actions are not consistent. For a while you have to take things with a grain of salt to see what is real and what isn't.

But it is what it is...and I agree that Meryl wouldn't be dancing in Sway unless she wanted to, knowing what the situation is. They have always said they had a "special friendship" and I do hope that is not in jeopardy. It IS possible for men and women to have friendships that are not with their spouses or significant others. Time will tell.

I'll add my 2 cents...and you know I haven't shipped them for quite a while, so there's that.

Cent # 1 I just want to interject that I have thought for some time about that phrase… "an ex is an ex for a reason"… because it frequently is quoted. That is surely the truth.  There is no argument there.

But for quite some time, that "reason" has seemed to me as if it could be many things - from the unforgivable, anger, heartbreak type of reason for a breakup.  To general incompatibility. All the way over on the scale, to the reason being mutually agreed to, temporary, provisional.  And conditions can certainly change that would make some reasons no longer an issue.   And people change.

True story in my circle of friends. She, a teacher, he, not yet retired from the military.  They unequivocally broke up, and yet at the end of the 16 months many of the "reasons" were non-issues.  And the opportunity to date others had left them both valuing each other more.

Cent # 2 Have you read Karina's book?  Just wondering.  No special reason.  But he does have a chapter in there.

(BTW - If I were a man, I would not date Karina, or any of the girlfriends who contributed to that book...They are petty, certainly exagerate, and think nothing of belittling the man to fill the pages.  No wonder they're not married, and she finds herself un-engaged once again.)

View, on Cent #1, I agree that people can change and that after time they may even come to have a closer and more meaningful relationship than they thought they did.  This is what serious and mature people try to do if/when they have differences.  It is in the effort to sort through differences that people often come, as your friends did, to appreciate more of what they have together as a couple rather than what they don't have (or allowed to interfere).  Good for them for doing that.  One of my sisters-in-law has been going thru something like that with her husband for the past couple years--and they are working things through.  I think it is important to take commitments very seriously...from marriage on down to following through on what you say you will do.  My daughter sometimes jokingly blames me for the fact she is loyal almost to a fault about fulfilling her commitments!

Cent #2: I have only read a couple portions of Karina's book (not that well written or interesting, frankly!), which included the chapter about Maks.  I just don't understand a person's need to put their negative private experiences out there like that--apparently for their own needs.  Sadly, Karina must not have learned much from writing it all down since the third engagement is now toast!!

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. I think Maks started dating Peta about 3 years after the Karina breakup, and I saw him on a youtube interview talking about the breakup with Peta where he said, "Peta went after me". I think he wanted people to know that he didn't go after her, get her, and then toss her aside.

LOL, Annie....it would appear that Peta has gone after Maks again!!  She waited for the right time to swoop in...and was available!  I realize that it takes to to tango, but I suspect it may well have been again in line with Maks' claim that he doesn't make the first move...the women come after him.  Tough situation to be in  but might also, I suppose, be a big reason that he seems unable to make a commitment in spite of claims that he's ready for a family life.  Only the things one earns and works on daily are worth having in life....and I think that certainly applies to finding and keeping the right mate.  Just my opinion....

I haven't read Karina's book, view.  What does it say on Maks?  It seems that many of the plans Maks had at the end of S.18 haven't worked out,  the acting, the judging dwts-US, no repeat apparently of the judging gig in India.... Btw. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back as a pro.  To seek the comfort of a long-standing friendship/relationship makes sense, especially if he was wanted back as we assume.  Isn't that what we do when the ego is dented, we need someone to build us up ect.  to lean on someone whose qualities we know well?  Obviously they both know well what they got in each other after having been de facto spouses in the past.  I mean no bashing of anyone, just pondering....
Edit to add, also no appearances in S.19 to keep his profile up....

You make an excellent point, Gabriele.  One does wonder how Maks is making money and creating new opportunities by hanging out at dwts most of the time (it would appear....but a presumption).  There was a statement by Val that Maks was under contract with dwts through 2015, however, so I assume that means some sort of income and commitment.  Maks did say he didn't want to work as a pro again because of aches and pains from pounding around on the dance floor since the age of 4.  But I agree that there is comfort in going back to what is familiar when in a period of transition.
